As seen jamming with Matt Magazu, Josh Goodfellow, Jared Callahan, Jason Miller, and pretty much anyone else on the east coast that gets down with that kinda thing.
Influences
Dad, SRV, Stevie Wonder, Hendrix, DMB, Eric Clapton, Led Zep, a bunch of the newgrass guys, occationally certain singer-songerwriters and lately Karen Briggs and Patrice Rushen. Inspired by her father's guitar playing, Emily Pakes wrote her first song at the age of four. It was an upbeat ditty about a pirate cat, which she banged out on the family's out of tune piano. At nine, she began playing guitar and started writing songs. Her ability to write parodies and other quirky humorous songs set her apart from her classmates and she was often branded a bad influence by pious mothers. She has since gone on to become a music school drop-out, a traveling one-woman-band, frontwoman, and currently lead guitarist for Cobra Kisses. Often recognized as the girl who plays guitar with her tongue, she is indeed still angering pious mothers everywhere.

Here's what people are saying about her first album:
"I have to admit, I literally burnt a hole in this album from listening to it over & over again! It ROCKS." Heather Corcoran, CoffeeHouseTour & QueerPlanet columnist.
"IF YOU HAVEN'T PLUGGED IN HER WICKED MUSIQU, IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU DID! This cd is a witty combination of gorgeous vocals, humorously sad'n'seductive lyrics and creative musical talent. >raises glass< Here's to an artist who grabbed life by the balls and produced a one amazing baby!" Tareena Wimbish, Stage Manager
Wowzers. I feel like I totally get where you're coming from. Slick riffage. No ruffage. And then there's a a sense of humor, comforting in its subtle brashness, like one would experience in a casual afternoon conversation with a close-knit group of educated lesbians, holding open the fire door with your foot to let the breeze pass through the apartment complex where the air conditioning has gone out. Too much detail? perhaps... but that's where I'm at.
Hey girl! Got your message that you will be here for the 8 Inch Betsy show. I have been so swamped with work and life lately..I'm gonna be a Mamma! and that has consumed me. Hope you are well and I look forward to seeing you when you come through! Much love to the Beaver and to you...In 6
