Emily Smart is a master craftsmaker of “rainy day” music. Her songs are a balanced blend of genres typically consisting of dark soaring melodies, organic guitar, a dash or electronic and a hint of folk.
With a striking and emotive voice, complemented by acoustic indie-pop music, Smart’s beautifully structured songs boast uncluttered arrangements with surprising little moments.
Despite the slight physical presence, Smart has an emotional inheritance in her vocals that is both simultaneously a soft whisper and a raging soul. Her lyrical intellect is stunning, and she delivers all this with the clear delicate voice of an ethereal poet and the strains of shining pop.
Emily Smart is not just an acoustic soloist, but an acoustic experience not to be forgotten. Performing regularly with her band The Clever Girls who have toured all around Australia with her playing in VIC, QLD, NSW, TAS, ACT, and SA.
Her self-produced debut solo EP ‘The Escape Plan’, supported by Arts SA and released in February 2007, has been described as ‘beautifully crafted - with outstanding, memorable and moving lyrics’.
Passionately vibrant, Emily Smart, with her richly moving voice and charming music, is destined for stardom. Discover and enjoy the timeless and hypnotic experience as Emily Smart takes you through the emotional spectrum from joy, love, sorrow and despair in her debut EP ‘The Escape Plan.’
