Emily Sparks is singer/guitarist/keyboard-player Bridget "Jet" Mullen and an unintentionally rotating cast of friends. Straddling the lines between genres like "Power Pop" and "Alt-Country", the music has been known to find appreciation among unlikely audiences. While playing a show at a punk-rock bar in Detroit as part of a national tour, Mullen was warned about the tendency of its patrons to throw rotten produce and beer bottles at the "quiet bands" who played there. Ever the optimist, she took her fragile songs on stage and not only emerged unslimed and unscathed, but also a few names richer on her mailing list. As producer/sound engineer/musician Dave Auchenback once put it,Emily Sparks is "quiet music for those who like it loud."
