  • Emily Zuzik releases first music video on Nov. 1st for MOTELS

    Hello friends and fans,

It gives me great pleasure and sheer glee to announce that I finally made a music video. I worked with NJ based production company Four Legged Features to produce a dark and retro-y version of the song "Motels" off my latest album, The Wild Joys of Living. If you haven't heard the song, you can stream it on Soundcloud.

The video will go live on YouTube and Vimeo on Tuesday, Nov. 1st and I'll forward the links on all my sites, as well as have it live on my web site, www.emilyzuzik.com.

The song itself came about after one of my What's In a Name? Challenges in NYC. This was an event I started where a group of songwriters would be given a word and we would all write songs with it. The word from this time was Motel. We got some interesting responses to it.

I always call this my Queens of the Stone Age "desert rock" song. I remember thinking I wanted to write something like that only acoustic, maybe add a dash of Camper Van Beethoven to it. The first line was taken from my friend Brian Grosz's story about how he would go to hotels sometimes to sequester and write. From there, the dark tale began...

I hope you'll take some time to check it out and if you like it, please pass it on to others who you think might too. Let's make this thing go viral, baby!

    More to come...

    Greetings from Los Angeles,
    Emily Zuzik
  • Hello Friends,

For the biggest holiday month of the year, I seem to have a lot to tell you about. I hope you're all well and having an enjoyable summer! So, without further ado...

EZ SCENE AND HEARD IN UPSTATE NY
This Sunday morning, Aug. 14th, I will return to WDST Radio Woodstock's program Woodstock Roundtable with Doug Grunther. Acoustic in tow and - with luck, a coffee in hand - I'll be performing and chatting at 8 am. Yes, that was not a typo... Tune in to 100.1 FM or www.wdst.com.

And if you live upstate, you may have come across a great review of The Wild Joys of Living by David Malachowski in The Daily Freeman. If you missed it, you can read it here.

    FAREWELL MANHATTAN SHOW
    FRIDAY, SEPT. 9TH, 9 PM
    ROCKWOOD, STAGE ONE
196 Allen Street btw Houston/Stanton, NYC
Yep, I am heading back to the west coast and can't think of a better way to say bye to Manhattan than a gig/party at Rockwood! I'll be joined by my good pal and musical cohort, Pi Jacobs, and her band, at 8 PM. EZB hits at 9 PM. It's going to rock and may be the last chance in 2011 to get a hard copy of The Wild Joys of Living, so mark the date!
EMILY IN LA'S KCRW AND THE COMET
In keeping with the big Los Angeles momentum, I wanted to share that my latest album, The Wild Joys of Living, was added to KCRW's music library. Now we need to get that stuff on the air! You can always request a song by email at KCRW. Listen in all around the greater LA area or tune into kcrw.com.
I also recently penned an article for The Comet on my collaboration experiences of late. You can read the story here.
EZ'S MUSIC IN NAT GEO'S SLAMMED DOC
I'm thrilled to announce that 2 songs off You Had Me At Goodbye will appear in National Geographic's SLAMMED: Inside Indie Wrestling, a documentary on independent wrestling. The show airs on Wednesday, Aug. 24th at 10 PM on the National Geographic Channel (Time Warner Cable Channel 65). It is also Produced and Edited by the one and only Bradley Holmes, so tune in!
I hope to see you out and about in August and September. More great music coming out soon, as well as some tunes for the Christmas season. Stay tuned!
    Besos,
    Emily

  • Catching up with Emily... new record, Moby, NBC theme song, Apple in-store, shows and new music

My god, has it been a crazy month! As many of you know, I'm prone to hyperbole, but with all sincerity, it has been really busy with music lately… I'm truly grateful for all the kind words and support I've received in the last few weeks. In hopes that I won't over-kill the promotion stuff, I figured I'd give a quick recap for you:
May 17—my song "The Low Hum" came out on Moby's record Destroyed.
June 2 (and Thursdays this summer, 10 PM EST)—NBC premieres "Love Bites," for which I sing the theme song. Produced with Art Hays.
"Higher than Me," a song from the Tim Lefebvre/EZ album, Domestic Blitz, will be heard on Josh Groban's summer tour walk-in mix!
This week, my record, The Wild Joys of Living, comes out!
Now, just a quick look ahead to what's in store:
June 14th—my collaborations with UK Leftfield artist Sizzlax is out on his "The Wonder Years ep".
June 24th—On-air interview on KSKQ 94.9 FM Ashland, OR www.kskq.org
JUNE 25th – CD Release Party @ The Living Room and XM Radio Taping of the show, 10:30 PM.
July 3rd—In studio interview on WDST 100.1 FM, Woodstock, NY www.wdst.com
July 8th—Apple In-store Performance, Chelsea store, w. 14th Street, TBA
July 14th—feelinganxious PR/Modern Vintage Recordings and BUST Magazine party performance.
July 19th—South London dubstep combo REFIX releases our song "Hope" on XY Records.
So, yes, for all the time I took off last year to plan a wedding, I think I may be making up for it this summer. I invite you all to come out to the CD release party (for those in NYC and close by) because we're very excited to play for you. I will make the brownies and we will have a grand ole time!
Also, I should let you know that you can pick up a copy of The Wild Joys of Living at:
And I updated my facebook Music page with a handy little app referred by Nadia Ackerman called RootMusic. There I've posted new music, the full length version of the "Love Bites" theme, the Moby song and other work I've been up to. Please stop by and join up. I even made a short cut to the page:
More cool projects--I'm working on my first music video with Four Legged Feature's Drue Pennella. Very exciting!
I also want to acknowledge that I've had some help along the way with this journey and want to throw out a big thank you to Arien Rozelle of feelinganxious PR. Arien and I have been collaborating in ways to help get the word out about the new record and ways to shine a light on all the good news. She's been great. Her energy is unyielding. Her tenacity is large. She's fearless and fun. I recommend her to anyone looking for some PR help.
For now, I will leave you all to enjoy the summer heat or settle in with the A/C. Stay tuned for more news. Have a great June and July!
    Besos,
    Emily
