Though E M J was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, He spent the majority of his childhood and teenage years with his two brothers and three sisters in the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee. As a teen, E M J showed a deep interest in music. It wasn't until 1991, that he begin to write songs and ultimately made the decision to pursue a career in music. Fueled with the desire to learn about the business aspect of the music industry, E M J enrolled into The Art Institute of Atlanta in 1992. There he majored in Music Entertainment Management. Unfortunately, after only five months of school E M J was forced to withdraw from the Art Institute because of family and financial problems. A short time after this event occurred E M J joined the US Army. He felt that this would be the best way to get back into school because the Army was giving him funding for college. E M J entered in the U.S. Army in Fall 1993. While serving his two-year Obligation to the U.S. Army, E M J met and fell in love with Cheryl, who he married in 1996 and later lost to Breast Cancer in 2001. In 1995, E M J extended his military career for three more years. During that time, the collection of songs that he had been writing over the years had grown to over twenty. In 1996, E M J decided to trash all of the songs that he had written over the years because of their explicit content. E M J felt that these songs would not be appropriate for his image, because he had received Christ in his life. After existing the U.S. Army in December 1998, E M J returned to college and Majored in Audio Sound Technology and Broadcast Communications at Bates Technical College. E M J started his own record company in 1999 and began to write songs that presented a realistic yet positive message. These songs can now be heard on his 1999 debut album titled "E M J". This album was nominated one of the Best Rap / Hip-Hop Albums in the Seattle area for the Sounds Of Seattle 2001 Music Awards. E M J relocated to Montgomery, Alabama in 2001 and in 2002, he released an EP titled "A.L.A.B.A.M.A.". "A.L.A.B.A.M.A." received high reviews and initiated a brand new flavor for his 2003 LP titled "STREET CREDIBILITY". This album also received great reviews and confirmed that E M J has what it takes to not only reinvent himself but change the game all together. As a producer, E M J is looking to get his PRODUCTION placed with artists that are backed by a strong independent or major label. E M J's 2008 EP release titled "CORPORATE DOLLA$" is available for PURCHASE ON-LINE.
