EMMA'S REVOLUTION/PAT HUMPHRIES & SANDY O:
"Across from the White House, we paused. . . We were arrested several hours later, having sung 'Peace Salaam Shalom' and 'All We Are Saying . . .' the entire time."--Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize Winning Author
"The powers that be can control the media but it's hard to stop a good song . . . Pat's songs will be sung well into the 22nd century."--Pete Seeger on National Pubic Radio's "All Things Considered"
"The epitome of great contemporary political music." -- Sing Out!
"Bold, profound, moving, hilarious and transformative," emma's revolution is the duo of award-winning, activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O, who write songs that become traditions. "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" is sung around the world and has been called the "anthem of the anti-war movement." "Keep on Moving Forward" opened the NGO Forum at the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Bejiing in 1995, becoming the unofficial theme of the Conference (www.pathumphries.com/Never_Turning_Back.mp3). Their debut CD one x 1,000,000 = change includes "If I Give Your Name", Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
In the spirit of Emma Goldman's famous attribution, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution," emma's revolution brings their uprising of truth, hope and a dash of healthy irreverance to concerts and peace & justice events across the US (including Camp Casey with Cindy Sheehan and the School of the Americas Watch at Fort Benning, GA). They have performed by invitation at the World Culture Open in Seoul, Korea, and at the Scottish Parliament's Festival of Politics. Join the revolution!

In May 2002, NPR's All Things Considered featured the story of an underground "folk anthem" that was 'everywhere,' despite its having no commercial airplay and no major label, or even moderate-sized indie label, support. The song was "Swimming to the Other Side," by activist musician and award-winning songwriter, Pat Humphries. The NPR segment included interviews with Pat and folk legend, Pete Seeger, who said, "The powers that be can control the media (but) it's hard to stop a good song . . . Pat's songs will be sung well into the 22nd century." The response from NPR listeners was tremendous and unprecedented. In addition to emails that flooded Pat's and NPR's inboxes, so many people ordered "Hands" that it was the ..1 seller on Amazon.com for three days--outselling Eminem's just-released live recording, and every other rock and pop artist. There is hope!
Hands contains "Never Turning Back which Pete Seeger called "one of the best songs I have heard in fifty years...an extraordinary song."

Thanks you: Barack's-stars! From my open heart for all, a call: It’s never too late to Get Out the Vote – Till the Polls close! This experience must be most bittersweet for our honorable Barack Obama, as he mourns the loss of his beloved Grandmother, whom we lost to cancer at 86 late Sunday night. I too lost my grandfather, whom was more of a father to me, at 86. So when the skies opened with sprinkles here in Maine and on the crowd as Obama spoke in NC, I couldn’t help but feel that the drizzle must have been tears from God or The Great Spirit. Therefore I am dedicating my endeavors today to see Obama serve in the highest office of our land, in the honor of his Grandmother. May we all work to honor her gifts to our country! Please visit my profile to read the information and blogs I have written for this election and why our world needs Our Obama to win! While our hearts are with Obama and his family, we need to remain focused to see him stand in front of all the world to deliver his inaugural address. With sincere condolences for Obama and his family, Heidi P.S. I now must say that as a young girl who held my Mothers hand as we crossed the picket-lines of those protesting the de-segregation of our lily-white school - on my first day of first grade. After these events: "We were the Victims My Family Of Racist Misery: Robberies, Bomb threats, and A Rumored Cross-burning Past that of 1968 That Occurred Despite the Christmas Date In Atlanta of My Georgia State." (From my song "Mandela-This is My Mandate") I am thus moved to tears to see Obama a man of great diversity make such monumental history. Now that I've seen him cast his vote, I'm off to do so, too! Let's pray it goes our way! P.P.S. And now that I’ve cast my vote, I hope you’ll go out yourself to cast yours, and together with yours, and those you might take with you, and our ripples will rise to wash over Our Land!
Hi, Pat and Sandy :) Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the new song, and am passing it around - I can't vote, but I'm working to make sure that others do! I'm so glad that there are those like you out there who can reach more people than I can stuck here. I hope to see you soon, either here in New Orleans or at the next event I'm able to attend! (I'm about ready to graduate high school and start focusing on the important things, my God.)
