1985-1992 Wrote a lot of songs. Took up the bass guitar. Went to school. 1995 Attended Rock School in London, Ontario. Recorded some songs. Decided a proper job with a regular paycheck is "not for me". 1996 Won a songwriting scholarship and a songwriting contest. Used the sweet coin to make an indie album. 1997 Signed a record deal. Made a not-so indie album. Had a big summertime hit in Canada called “Summerlong”. 1998 Ditched the deal/it ditched me and started my own label. Got nominated for a Juno for Best New Artist. Hurray for being new! Opened for Bernard Butler at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC making me the first lass to shred on its stage. 1999 My album”Science Fair” which I recorded for $500 outsold the one that was on the big label. David Bowie invited me to tour in his band. I didn’t say no. 2000 Played SNL, Conan, Glasto, Jools Holland with Bowie and had a blast. Learned a bit about fashion and brilliant songwriting while eating fabulous dinners and traveling first class. 2001 Back to reality. Released an album of cover songs by Fugazi, Def Leppard and The Clash. It got nominated for a Juno Award – same category as Leonard Cohen! Neither of us won. 2002 Made a pop album in L.A. with a chap named Walton Gagel. It got nominated for a Juno for Best Pop Album. 2003 Moved to Montreal. Started work on an album with Nathan Larson who does film music and shreds like a champ on the guitar. Recorded in Sweden. 2004 While making that album in Sweden, I made another album called ”Songs of Love and Death”. I recorded it at home for nothing. Kate McGarrigle played banjo. All the songs were Irish songs (The Undertones, Thin Lizzy, Something Happens, Therapy?). 2005 Toured Ireland (I'm 1/4 Irish) and basically fell in love with the place. 2006 Released ”The Summer of High Hopes”. Bono said in the Nov issue of Q that he wishes he wrote one of the songs from the album. Thank you, Bono Vox! 2007 Performed at the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Began work on a new album with Greg Wells, producer to the stars (Katy Perry, Mika, OneRepublic). Paul Buckmaster arranged strings = I've died and gone to heaven. Made my acting debut in a fab film called One Week starring Josh Jackson. 2008 Hosted CBC radio show “Under The Covers”. Finishing up the new album and finding ways to reduce life story to bullet points.

Was sad to miss playing with you at the Festival of Friends in Hamilton this weekend past. Turns out optimism alone will not stop the rain. It was great to meet you, though. Best wishes, "Archibald" Jay
Hey Emm. I played the Spiegel tent just before you about two years ago in dublin. Do you rememeber?
Anyways, I've stuck up some new recordings of songs we did in the album session in Electrical Audio. None of the songs are mastered yet and there are a couple of tweaks here and there to be done but I thought I"d stick em up so you could get a listen before the album is released.
I"m gonna rotate the songs on an as unyet decided basis (weekly, biweekly, triweekly even??) and include songs that didn"t make the final cut. Watch out for them...
The songs up now are There You Stand, This Is How We Play and Home.
