Emperium has many of influences from various artists, each member with their own personal music tastes, and it is difficult to pinpoint one particular band that is inspirational. Given the Thrash metal sound, obvious points of reference are Metallica, Kreator, Exodus and many other vintage metal bands. However, down tuning and irregular rhythms are a result of Children Of Bodom and Lamb of God.
Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrell, Alexi Laiho and Jeff Loomis serve as the main lead guitar influence for guitarist Michael and Matt, while rhythm players like James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine and Matt Bachand are all rhythm guitar influences.
Individually, each member brings something different to the band. Matt is a groove influenced player, with aggressive solos reminiscent of Dimebag Darrell. Michael is a more melodic player, similar to Marty Friedman or Corey Beaulieu.
As vocals go, Jamie's screaming style is heavily reliant on the brutal Inward Screaming technique, often used by Randy Blythe of Lamb of God. He's also really into the tone and range of Matt Heafy's scream style. He also likes to take his scream up into the higher ranges, and draws influence from artists like Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy.
As a bassist, Jamie has a habit of NEVER using a plectrum, so he draws automatic inspration from Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Alex Webster and Billy Sheehan. Musically, he is influenced a lot by the thundering rock basslines by Shavo of SOAD.
As a percussionist Sam is influenced by both the rock and metal worlds. He has the rhythm and groove of Chad Smith and John Bonham coupled with the intensity of Travis Smith and Dave McClain.
Hey guys! Welcome to our myspace, home of Emperium! (formerly known as The Black Crusade)
We are Emperium, a Brisbane based band of young metalheads looking to have a laugh and play what the fuck we want. We used to be called 'The Black Crusade' deciding it was too much a rip off, we renamed ourselves. if you have our old Myspace added, get rid of it and add this one!
So we got together in late June of 2007, with the sole intent of playing at High Voltage, now that's over and done with we're still around, learning new songs (and writing a few as well) looking to perform as much as we can and only get better with our music. All in good fun, what!
hey you guys were awesome at high voltage. always my favourite:) mortuary is my fav song by u guys but u must send me the lyrics cuz i have no clue what ur saying:)
