MusicI appreciate a wide variety of music. I have spent years following numerous artists in varying genres and I've discovered one thing. I absolutely love music. I was never able to compose or play it successfully myself (aside from drumming in a few punk bands in my early teens as well as what I believe to be talented vocals, albeit ranging from deep-throated singing to all-out growling) but I have found a deep appreciation for nearly all genres.
So if anyone knows of any artists I should give a listen to, drop me a line.

Bold names indicate that the band is one of my most favorite or most influential groups.
As of December 26th, 2004, I increased the number of bold-type names in an effort to panegyrize certain bands and artists for which I feel a certain association. For example, I feel that because I live in the Carolinas that I am apt to praise bands whom it seems I was there as they began their musical careers. Bands like Stretch Armstrong and Zao who would be found frequenting the VFW in N. Charleston or the Clubhouse in W. Ashley as well as North Carolina legends Prayer for Cleansing and From Here On. Both are, in my opinion, two underrated bands who allowed me to appreciate the style that came out of the state to the north of me.
It is likely that I will update this list again when I'm bored, possibly differentiating the list with different type-face.

Classical, Opera, & Composers:

Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, DeBussy, Dvorak, Grieg, Handel, Haydn, Monteverdi, Mozart, Orff, Rachmaninov, Roussini, Schoenberg, Schubert, Schumann, Stravinsky, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Wagner

I'm not familiar with all the work of all the composers I listed, but I love talking to people about classical music. It is such an overlooked genre of music.

***Always a Work-in-Progress***

MoviesLord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter series, The Boondock Saints, Fight Club, Se7en, Kevin Smith movies, Coen Brothers movies, the comedies of the Farrelly brothers and Terry Gilliam (including action/drama 12 monkeys), any movie with Johnny Depp or Winona Ryder in it (especially Edward Scissorhands and Heathers), Life is Beautiful (one of the greatest foreign films ever!) and many more, typically of the dramatic genre.
TelevisionJeopardy is usually all I ever watch. I will occasionally watch Adult Swim but since I've seen all the programs that run Monday to Thursday numerous times, I usually only watch it on Saturday and Sunday nights for the new stuff. I'm often found watching TV in front of the TV.

I do watch more TV now. Stuff like Fox Sunday Nights, My Name is Earl, The Office, Battlestar Galactica, and a plethora of shows that come on the Science Channel, the Discovery-Times Channel, the History Channel, and anything else that is for smart people!

BooksThe Lord of the Rings I've read numerous times, and The Silmarillion twice, and all of Tolkien's other work; The Wizard of Earth-Sea Series and the politico-, psycho-, and socio-science-fiction of Ursula K. LeGuin, the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, all of Tom Robbins' novels, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time and a collection of his essays, numerous Stephen King novels and short stories, many classics from great authors such as Robert Louis Stevenson, Daniel DeFoe, Jules Verne, Charles Dickens, and Alexandre Dumas, the fiction of J. D. Salinger, Lewis Caroll, E. B. White, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and even A. A. Milne, as well as mostly all of Voltaire's work (I've still got a lot to read), Sun Tzu's "The Art of War," along with "The Prince" by Nicolo Machiavelli, and the work of Karl Marx/Frederich Engels, Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Nietschze, and other philosophers including Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle; Percy Bysshe Shelley's "The Necessity of Atheism". Plus the poetry of e. e. cummings, T. S. Eliot and any other books of enlightening and intellectual nature I can get my hands on.

About me:
I am a 729^½ year old male living in the vicinity of Charleston, SC.

I want to be a writer. I hope to pen novels. I desire to scribe a series. I dream of completing an epic.

I smart. I talk English. I write good. I nevur mispell enytheng. Sometime me sleep. Want hunt buffalo, rabbits of midwest.

I occasionally orthographically write the British way. It makes more sense to punctuate after the quotation marks enclosing a short story title. Some say that makes me an anglophile. All I have to say is, "Ewww!"

I am an atheist, and (small-l) libertarian. I'd be an anarchist but unfortunately I'm intelligent.

Australopithecus afarensis, I love the way it rolls off your tongue. It's possibly an ancestor of mine, it is. I laugh when people say they believe in Creationism.

I like Granny Smith Apples. And to prove you read or at least skimmed my profile, my last name is Sabback if you want to add me. -=-=-=-
You scored as Friedrich Nietzsche. Well you're an egotistical maniac, and you are so very iconoclastic that you probably are currently lost in a post-modern Jupiter, I mean jungle of self-definition. Don't let it get you down though, someday, through a willful onslaught of reinterpretation of dated forms and ideas, you will strike on something that passes as remotely new, and people WILL be into it on the basis of how hip it is alone. Also, the average espresso drinker looks up to you.

What Pseudo Historical Figure Best Suits You?
created with QuizFarm.com

Who I'd like to meet:
Jello Biafra - for being the inspiration that brought me into political activism
Jim Morrison - for opening the DOORway to music and poetic thought for me
Henry Rollins - for sharing my perception of so much in this world Phil Ochs - for just being one of the greatest musicians whose music has ever graced my ears
Christopher Tolkien - so I can convince him to give me his father's estate. I swear on my life and the lives of all my friends that I will not exploit it. I just want to continue where Tolkien left off... :(
Tom Robbins - just to talk to him
Percy Bysshe Shelley, Jean Francois Marie-Arouet (Voltaire), Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain), Greg Graffin - for religious discussion
Hammurabi, Gilgamesh, Xerxes, Ptolemy, Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar - to include in the above religious discussion (provided we have a translator), and hope that their effects on history would weaken the religious hold that is now plaguing the world.
Constantine, Clovis I - to assassinate them... sorry guys... your conversions caused Christianity to grow too quickly for its own good. Not that I have a problem with Christianity... I have a problem with it being forced upon the rest of the world as an "official" religion in empires that stretched from the middle East to Italy, and most of Europe.

Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Sun Tzu/Tzi/Wu, Mao Tse-tung, Charlemagne, Leif Erikson, and a few select Japanese men: Musashi Miyamoto, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Oda Nobunaga - to have dinner with them at some great banquet hall while discussing contemporary methods of achieving global domination. After dinner, the Japanese men and I will chase Charlemagne down and bludgeon him to death with a club. That will teach him to force people to practice Catholicism at Swordpoint. Bastard. I think it'd be a fun night.

While we're at it, other Asian men I'd like to meet include Ho Chi Minh, Norodom Sihounak, and Saloth Sar (better known as Pol Pot). I'd tell them what they need to know to better their countries. Cambodia would have been better off had Saloth Sar not been corrupted by Lon Nol's merciless America-trained militia. His ideas were good, and Sihounak could have used them to help Cambodia, not slaughter its people during the Khmer Rouge. And Ho Chi Minh, your hope for Viet Nam lies outside of the United States. Screw the French too. Neither country will listen. If you want assistance to establish a democratic nation in Viet Nam, consult the British; don't turn to China or Russia.

History rocks.

Take this quiz at QuizGalaxy.com

I want to meet the six-fingered man who murdered my father and gave me this scar on my cheek. And when I meet him I will say to him "Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

I'd also like to meet Jesus and ask him how he feels about this religion formed around his existence. Then I'd like to meet Elvis, and ask him how he feels about the possibility that in a couple of millenia he could take the place of Jesus. You know, like after the world's been nuked and civilization goes back to primitivity. Then one of these primitive tribesmen will discover Graceland and it'll be all over. Thank you... thankyouverymuch.

I like girls too. Can I meet some girls? Kinda tall. With hair. And who wear shirts sometimes. "Pres-STONE!"

Did you read my top 15 things you are cooler than?

Go read my other blog that you commented on... you know the one where you said you are cooler than my boyfriend...

I think you might get a kick out of it.

And I should amend my blog to say modern anti-biotics... which was actually a reference to Donnie Darko... speaking of

did you see that they are making another darko movie?

It's called S.Darko...

the story from the eyes of Samantha Darko...

I'm pissed about it...
