Empowering The Poor, Inc. (ETP) is a Fredericksburg-based non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization with a regional office in Korhogo, Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa.
Our mission is to empower poor communities in Sub-Saharan Africa to self-reliance with dignity through culturally tailored and integrated educational, health, and microfinance programs.
Furthermore, we provide students in the U.S and Africa with a voice and unique platform to make a real difference in their local community and in Africa, while exposing them to a tremendous educational, cultural, leadership, and networking opportunities through our student coalition, Students with Empowering the Poor.
We envision a world where one’s birthplace would not determine one’s life expectancy. A world where the poor all across the globe, are empowered to lift themselves up out of poverty with dignity, and not provided with hand outs or being disenfranchised, a world where those who are blessed become a blessing and a miracle to the have nots; a world where love and respect for human life will triumph over selfishness, greediness, skin color, religious, socio-political, and economic ideology.
You can contact us at (540) 424-2705 if you're interested in becoming a volunteer.
Empowering The Poor operates in the United States and in Sub-Saharan Africa, the only region of the developing world where poverty is increasing and health and education are worsening.
