Influences
friends. they are the only ones who understand what i stand for. i am all about being myself, and getting high on life. i live for making memories and having fun. i dont drink or smoke and im proud of that. i do things that most people wouldnt think of. i build forts in walmart and have sword fights in the middle of the road. i guess you could say im the class clown. i love making people laugh, and the ones who dont think im funny hate me, but i dont care, ther the ones who are missing out on life. from what im told, im the only one who hasent lost the fun of who they truly are through highschool. and that is my influence in this page, and in life.
also, my brother is one. he is just like me and shares the same immaturity. i love it, and i hope he never loses sight of whats true in life, and thats real happiness through laughter.
Sounds Like

well, you have to work some magic on them. You're right, you don't want to insult them by offering a super low figure, but if you let them know that this is your first show and you're not 100% on how it's going to go and you don't want to promise them money you're not sure you can give them, they WILL totally understand. When bands come to Our House (depending on the band) I usually guarantee $75 and then after i recoupe my expenses (usually just printing costs for posters) I split up the rest to all the bands. That way if fewer kids than expected show up, i haven't shot myself in the foot by having to payout 200 guarantees to 4 bands. And if there is more, that's great, it's an added bonus to the bands. But you do what ever you have to man. It's a hard thing to set up a show, but it's TOTALLY worth it. Let me know if i can be of any help. -Brian
I didn't have to, and I would have to see what they are actually looking for. But if it's for the city I'm sure that they are really just looking to see that you have all your bases covered. They'll want to know that you've got security and that it isn't going to get out of hand, that where ever your venue is that you're not going to cause to much racket and just let them know WHY you're doing it. Plus they'll want to know all of the particulars. Start time, estimated end time, probably your estimated attendence...blah blah blah. And as far as price goes, that's such a hard thing to pin down. You're right, you don't want to shoot yourself in the foot, but to be honest you have to be expected to be out some money for the first one (not that you will be out, but you have to be prepared for it). See how much your bands are looking for, if they are localish then gas money and a little food money is usually ok. Pay the bands and cover your venue and you should be fine. See what the buzz is in town and estimate how many kids will come and then you can get a better guess on the price. I do suggest going with either $5 or an even amount. There is no exact science to coming up with the price. It's alot of trial and error. Let me know if i can be of any more help and if you have anymore questions. -Brian

nonami wants you to join their band in Rockstars, a game where you can form bands with your friends and play gigs, battle rival bands, and become famous on MySpace!
that show we both went to in Chippewa Falls was done pretty cheap. They just got a permit from the city and i think that the permit fee was less than 30 bucks. See if you could use that park by Burger King. That has a band shell and everything. I know that Yeshuapalooza used to be there. You couldn't charge a cover, but the bands could set up merch tables and you could do a tip jar. Most bands (especially local) are cool with playing for little to no money as long as they aren't OUT any money. So feed them and give them what ever you can for gas and you'd be good. -Brian
this is more of a poppier show, we're going to do a metal show though again this summer. probably with Lost in Prague. Have you started your concerts yet? We'd still love to help if you want to spearhead one. -Brian of SKOB and Our House
