EMPÜRIOS' seed was sowed in 2004, when the cousins Renata (g) and Igor Decnop (g) formed the cover band Zenith, which ended in mid-2005. From that band though came both Renata and Igor, along with Fernanda Decnop (vocals) and Marcos Ceia (keys), in an union of interests that created EMPÜRIOS, and the drive to compose.
In 2006 the demo 'Drowned Earth' is released, with five tracks: the energic 'Chaos', the melodic 'Over the Fire', the exciting 'In the Middle of Everything', the agressive 'Kiss of the Blade' and the mysterious 'Deluge Etheral (Blood on Water)'. That release had great reviews from online and printed magazines, as Rock Brigade, Rock Hard/Valhalla, Whiplash, Metal Vox, among many others.
In 2008, with the departure of Igor Decnop came the reformulated line-up, with Luiz Freitag (bass) and Gabriel Victorino (guitars). These new additions integrated new influences and motivation, maturing and polishing the work on progress by then.
Influenced by a miryad of genres inside and outside heavy metal, EMPÜRIOS brings a mix of dark metal with the urgency of thrash metal and the complexity of progressive rock. These ingredients result in a style that, though unique, easily listenable and recognizable.
EMPÜRIOS lyrics derive from human fears and desires, most of the times in numerous allegories. Even though these themes are naturally complex, they are conducted smoothly, thanks to the harmony between concept and music.
EMPÜRIOS is at the time recording their first full-length album, entitled "Cyclings", to be released mid-2009.
