EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)-Level of certification for an EMS provider that
enables them to provide a basic level of care to patients. Initial EMT training is approx. 120 hours in length.
 
Paramedic-Level of certification for an EMS provider that enables them to provide an advanced level of care. Initial Paramedic training is approx. 1,200 hours in length.
 
BLS-(Basic Life Support)-Level of care provided by EMS which includes bleeding control, CPR, splinting, basic airway management, oxygen administration, and assisting the advanced provider.
 
ALS (Advanced Life Support)- Level of care provided by EMS which may include invasive procedures such as IV’s, advanced airway, defibrillation, and medication administration.
