Harlem producer Sidney “Omen” Brown has foresight ."I have visions" explains the thirty-one-year-old, referring to the process in which he creates his music . While most beat-smiths lay down hollow tracks that only take minutes to craft, this native New Yorker eschews samples and instead opts to create each one of his concoctions with a rich, layered musical landscape ."There are these moments I have where the music comes to me and I try to take my time with it and see it through," says Omen, who began fiddling with Casio keyboards in the early '90s before landing his first production credit on Memphis Bleek's debut album, Coming Of Age. "I'm not trying to make popcorn music,it has to have some meaning”. Whether it's Fabolous solemn Street Tale "One Day" (Ghetto Fabolous/Elektra 2001) or the hood tranced "Why wouldnt i"(Street Dreams/Elektra 2003) the versatile producer paints a perfect picture every time . Frequent collaborator and fellow Harlemite Jae Millz agrees ."He's really into music," the rapper gushes. "He came to lay the beat for "Feel at the Moment" and he laid 30 instruments! It's crazy for someone to sit there putting instruments over instruments and it not sound cluttered. But he made it sound so soulful. He's definitely coming with real music ."The producer credits an array of influences on his sound, from Willie Hutch and Barry White to DJ Premier and Timbaland. Just like those legendary musicians, Omen puts no limits on his creative outlets. With a film score already under his belt, by way of Roc-A-Fella Films/Universal Pictures critically acclaimed comedy, Paper Soldiers. Most Recently a Collaboration with Ludacris outlining The Ins and Outs of the Rap Game entitled “Tell it like it is” that appeared on the The Controversial Album Release Therapy scored a Grammy Win for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards taking the Best Rap Album Award and Rewarding Omen with his 1st Grammy Win for being a part of the record. Currently Omen is focusing on reinventing his sound as well as helping new artist Emerge such as Newcomers Takia Miguel, Drake ,Voyce Alexander and a host of fresh new talent. With the new and Improved Omen & The Elaborate Musik Orchestra Signature ,the formation of him and fellow peers Emperors Club Organization as well as an Album in the Works Omen is keeping himself plenty busy. Even if it means losing sleep. But with his prodigious talent and determination, Omen won't have to worry too much about skipping out on dream time .Because in no time he'll be turning his visions into reality.
