Formed in Ottawa, Canada 2005 by Matt Gifford and Sam Mainer, childhood friends who have been experimenting with electronic music since the mid 90s
The songs are consistently dark, electronic, and melodic, showcasing a wide range of vocal ability, composition and production styles and appealing to fans of EBM, Electro Industrial, Synthpop and Industrial Rock
In 2006 Encephalon made their debut on a Glitch Mode sampler and then on the DAC topping “Septic 6” compilation by Dependent Records. After a brief hiatus Encephalon returned situated between Combichrist and Rotersand on Das Bunkers “Brighter Than A Thousand Suns” compilation in 2008. In 2009 Encephalon’s track “Rise” was featured in the closing credits of the 2009 Cyber-Punk film “The Gene Generation” and a new track is presently being scored for the upcoming horror film “Necromentia”
A wide range of Influences include Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Apoptygma Berzerk, X Marks the Pedwalk, Mesh, Faith No More, Curve, Imperative Reaction, Muse, AFI, and Diary of Dreams
