Led by Devy Jamin, who is a worship leader and songwriter, Encomium forges a new sound united by intriguing melodies, riff-driven guitar, rhythmic groove, and inspirational, emotive vocals.
Encomium which means Expression of Praise truly speaks for itself. This Portland-based Christian rock band brings a powerful performance combining exceptional musicianship with spiritual prophetic worship. Encomium plays modern worship with alternative rock style, similar to bands like Delirious?, Hillsong United, Switchfoot.
It all began with one simple point: an immense amount of zeal for God. Like a domino-effect, pieces started to fuse one to another; the zeal mobilized a desire to serve. Finally, a burden to impact a generation through music was birthed out! It was a revelation that forever changed lives and defined a divine calling to worship.
As a worship leader at Oregon City Blessing Church, Devy Jamin released his debut album "Journey Thru Time" in 2003, which sold over 1000 copies in the United States, British Columbia, Singapore and Indonesia (where he is from originally).
Encomium was birth in July 2004 and released their self-titled album "Expression of Praise" in early 2006. Over the last four years, they have performed in various christian festivals, events, and churches around Oregon, as well as Washington and had the priviledge to work with ministries and organizations such as: CityTeam, Street Praise, Track10, Hideout and Voices in the Valley.
Their ability to go from completely rockin down the house to absolute intimate worship is stunning! The Gresham Outlook interviewed them in Summer 2007 to promote one of their concerts at East Hill Gresham.
Encomium continued to be known locally and recoqnized internationally. In 2007, Encomium was featured twice in GetLife Magazine (One of the leading Christian magazine in Indonesia) to challenge and inspire the young generation on how to share the Gospel through music. Devy Jamin was asked to answer readers' questions in the "Beat" section about worship and music ministry.
"Encomium's sole purpose is to bring this generation into a deeper knowledge and connection with God; to search for the truth and enlightenment in times of total manipulation, lies, and darkness" notes Devy.
Rewinding everything and returning to the origin: a zeal for God. If this one simple point is taken away... encomium would be...nonexistent.

hey, you all should come too redding, CA to do a concert. I never seen you guys "live" but it would be an amazing experience, not just for me but for the unbelievers too. I am hoping to major in music performance to become a music artist to reach out to the non believers and also the believers.
