there are many ways to be involved in the ministries of encounter. by giving your time to serve you are expressing your worship to God and your love for others. this is also one of the best ways to meet people and build relationships.
below are some of the areas you can volunteer through the ministry of encounter:
Setup crew (sunday mornings 8-9am) join others in unloading the trailer and setting the rooms for sunday morning worship experiences. men and women serve on weekly rotations and find the time as a great way to get to know others. to become a part of the crew contact Carl Large at 214.869.0087.
Take-down crew (after sunday service) many help put all the encounter stuff away on a weekly basis while they talk with others after the service.
Tech crew (audio, video, lighting) a large part of the weekly worship experience at encounter includes a variety of media options. if you would like to help out with audio mixing/recording, computer media, lighting, or video contact Stuart Dunn at sdunn@desotoisd.org.
community group leader - leaders of community groups facilitate discussion, Bible study, and care in what is most central to the message and life of encounter. for more info on the role of these key leaders contact Jonathan Blundell at jonathan.blundell@encounterthis.com.
community group host home - a valuable part of the community group experience is a home setting. real life happens in homes and not classrooms. if you would like to open your living room for a community group setting, contact Jonathan Blundell at jonathan.blundell@encounterthis.com.
Nursery care - the sunday morning worship experience becomes more enjoyable for parents when they know their children will be cared for in an environment of love and care. volunteers from encounter serve on a rotating basis to create this environment. nursery care is provided in rooms with small teacher/child ratios. if you would like to be a part of the 6 week rotation, contact Mary Lynch at my_3sons@att.net.
Kid’s ministry - kids in K5-4th grade enjoy the high energy learning environment of kid’s encounter on sunday morning. volunteers can help in this active environment on a rotating basis in one of 3 ways: 1) games leader, 2) teacher, 3) sherrif for the day. if you would like to be a part of the kids team, contact Brad Hays at bhays@ovillachristianschool.org.
XLR8 - kids in 5th in 6th grade meet on Wednesday night at 7pm for a night of games, interaction, and discussion of Christ and the Scriptures. James Lynch leads the energetic mid-week time. you can volunteer your time and impact the life of students by contacting him at jlynch@staps1.com.
momentum - jr. high & sr. high students meet on Wednesday nights for games, activities, and interactive Bible study at the home of the Treadaways in Ovilla. volunteers have the opportunity to influence the lives of teens who are looking for role models in their world of pressure and high energy. to volunteer your time for weekly gatherings or events contact Phil Humbert at phil.humbert@encounterthis.com.
Liquid Lounge - a valuable part of sunday mornings are snacks, coffee, and tea! volunteers can give their time before worship experpiences in the set-up and serving from the Liquid Lounge. If you would like to volunteer your time contact Luanne Hays at lhays@ovillachristianschool.org.
community impact projects - throughout the year encounter seeks to reach out into the community with projects of assistance and care. encounter projects have included giving clothes and food to Dallas homeless shelters, Christmas baskets of food and toys to Waxahachie residents, assistance to local benevolence agencies, outreach to local apartment communities. if you would like to volunteer in this area of outreach contact Richard Nash at richard.nash@ennisk12.tx.us.
