      I’m weird.  I’m a mama’s boy.  My Mama was born 3 blocks north of Hell’s Kitchen, lettered in Field Hockey at Hunter High, was a Burma Nurse with the 20^th General Hospital during WWII, an auxiliary officer with the 2^nd Gurkha Rifles, a 12-year male in the (allegedly) former head-hunter Nagra tribe, killed 14 copperheads and 4 rattlesnakes as a Girl Scout camp nurse, and hiked from Georgia to Virginia on the Appalachian Trail 2 years after having 3 vertebrae fused.  I’m weird.  I’ve slept with more women than I’ve made love to; I’ve gone out with dozens of women but dated a handful.  I’m weird.  I’ve made passes at lesbians, made out with several, and had one lesbian goose my butt.

      I’m weird.  I was one of 4 students in Mrs. Carson’s 4^th Grade class who did not cheer and/or stand up when we heard President Kennedy had been shot.  My family went to a church that the Klan tried to bomb in 1962, a church that had Mrs. M.M. “Phemie” Young (charter member of the SCLC) and Dr. Karl Huerer (Science Advisor to Pres. Benes of Czechoslovakia, friend of Einstein and student of Gandhi) among the members.  I was a nigger-lover when it was dangerous to be one.

      I’m weird.  I decided at a young age to live an interesting life rather than an important or famous life.  I saved the life of a 15-year-old kid during a riot by using my body as a shield 6 hours after the Chattanooga draft board turned down my request for I-O status; they gave it to me on appeal, their 3^rd since 1917.  I’ve saved Bruce Springsteen from a fate worse than death; you have to be my friend to get the details.  I’ve been a whistle blower at UT , a film production, and a state agency and I wasn’t fired; to be frank, in 3 of the five times I quit before they could fire me.  I was one of the volunteers screened and trained by Austin Interfaith and APD to be escorts for Muslim Families after Sept. 11, 2001. There are dozens of non-Muslims in Austin who think I’m evil and dangerous just because of my face.  I chewed out 4 Marines at SeaWorld San Antonio for using Booty Call language around Mothers and Daughters, and they apologized saying “Yes Sir”.

      I’m weird.  I went 45 years suffering from Sleep Apnea because I was too skinny and active to fit the profile.  It took almost fifty years and 5 psychologists before I was correctly diagnosed as Mild Perfectionist Obsessive-Compulsive, which caused my depression, anxiety disorder and panic attacks.  (Thank you for thinking it, much better after getting on Paxil and realizing “good enough” is all most people expect from me.

You you silly goose. Anyone not giving come ons like the whores on 2nd Avenue. People who like to write to pen pals. Actors and people who employ them. People who give a damn about Social Issues, Human Rights, and the mess my generation has made of this world. Old souls. People who enjoy altered states, chemical or otherwise. Anyone with Alzheimer's parents. People who do unto others as they would want others do unto them. Saints and Sinners. Musicians who don't give a damn about unit sales. The Guy in front of the tanks at Tinenamen Square.
