"I WASN'T A FRIEND"

c Guitar Girls Dotcom Publishing, BMI
This is a mistake
This is not some pre-ordained fate
You should be here
Instead of an endless ocean of tears
(Chorus)
If I could turn back just one day
I'd give anything to make it that way
I'd take the keys from your hand
and I'd make sure you stayed
Instead I let you drive away
I wasnt a friend yesterday.
I don't understand
How I let this happen to you
No one will forget
Your life will matter
This message they'll get
(Chorus)
If I could turn back just one day
I'd give anything to make it that way
I'd take the keys from your hand
and I'd make sure you stayed
Instead I let you drive away
I wasn't a friend yesterday.
(Bridge)
There won't be the good old days
Or your grown kids to praise
I can't make friends with grief
I don't know how I will find relief
(Chorus repeat 2x)
If I could turn back just one day
I'd give anything to make it that way
I'd take the keys from your hand
and I'd make sure you stayed

About me:
Hi, my name is Lynn Carey Saylor and I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Los Angeles. I have set up this myspace as a suppliment to my main myspace page to share with as many people as possible my drunk driving themed song, "I WASN'T A FRIEND". The song is specifically about the guilt and pain of not stopping a friend from driving drunk and it is written from the perspective of the day after the friend is killed in an accident.
The song title "I WASN'T A FRIEND" speaks to the anguish of knowing the friend would still be alive if the keys were simply just taken from the friend's hand and they weren't allowed to drive. I wrote the song for the SOLE purpose of making people think about how important it is to NEVER let their friends drive drunk and to fight them (if need be) to take their car keys when their friends are too intoxicated to drive.
At left are the lyrics to "I Wasn't A Friend". On my new album "You Like It Clean", where this song appears, it is dedicated in the liner notes to all families who have lost a loved one in a drunk driving accident.
I will shoot a formal music video for this song in the coming few months, but I am also encouraging the use of the song in video montages that speak to the horrors of drunk driving, those that feature loved ones lost in drunk driving accidents or for those of you crafty enough, videos
acting out the story line of this song. I will give you permission for use of the song and I will feature all of the best video presentations here and at other sites around the Internet. Please contact me through this page OR at enddrunkdriving@gmail.com to request permission to use my song and let me know the idea you have in mind for its use.
This song mixed with some powerful visual images CAN help save lives! I will be enormously grateful to all those who agree and wish to join with me in making this statement a REALITY!
Who I'd like to meet: People touched personally by a drunk driving tragedy, those with a desire to help end the insanity of drunk driving, those who are committed to NEVER letting a friend drive drunk, my fans from my main myspace page at http://Lynnsongs.com. I'd also like to meet KELLY RIPA of Regis and Kelly TV talk show fame and perform "I Wasn't A Friend" on the show. Kelly's sister was nearly killed by a drunk driver and she has been an advocate for drunk driving prevention ever since.

Apr 8, 2009 10:19 PM Barack Obama was seated next to a little girl on an airplane trip back to Washington. He turned to her and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.
” The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to Obama, “What would you like to talk about?” “Oh, I don’t know,” said Obama. “How about What Changes I should make to America?” and he smiles.
“OK,” she says. “That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?” Obama, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence, thinks about it for a second and finally says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.
” To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to change America when you don’t know shit?”
