"ONE DEATH IS A TRAGEDY, A MILLION DEATHS IS A STATISTIC." -Joseph Stalin
POVERTY STATISTICS
"Statistics are another word for problems with the tears wiped away"
-
“The lives of 1.7 million children
will be needlessly lost this year [2000] because world governments have failed to reduce poverty levels”
Around the world, some 26,500 children die every day.
That is equivalent to:
*1 child dying every 3 seconds
*18 children dying every minute
*A 2004 Asian Tsunami occurring every week
*An Iraq-scale death toll every 15–36 days
*Almost 10 million children dying every year
*Some 60 million children dying between 2000 and 2006
The silent killers are poverty, hunger, easily preventable diseases and illnesses, and other related causes. In spite of the scale of this daily/ongoing catastrophe, it rarely manages to achieve, much less sustain, prime-time, headline coverage.
-The developing world now spends $13 on debt repayment for every $1 it receives in grants.
-A few hundred millionaires now own as much wealth as the world’s poorest 2.5 billion people.
-“The 48 poorest countries account for less than 0.4 per cent of global exports.”
"The war against terror is bound up in the war against poverty." -Secretary of State Colin Powell*War is also a cause of poverty just as poverty can help set the stages of war.*
Instead of this money going to kill people, imagine if it was spent to save people and destroy some of the underlying causes of war...
-“Approximately
790 million people in the developing world are still chronically undernourished, almost two-thirds of whom reside in Asia and the Pacific.”
According to UNICEF,
30,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”
-That is about 210,000 children each week, or just under 11 million children under five years of age, each year.
-“Today, across the world, 1.3 billion people live on less than one dollar a day; 3 billion live on under two dollars a day; 1.3 billion have no access to clean water.
BUT THERE IS HOPE...
At the Millennium Summit in September 2000 the largest gathering of world leaders in history adopted the UN Millennium Declaration, committing
191 nations to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and setting out a series of time-bound targets, with a deadline of 2015, that have become known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Set for the year 2015, the MDGs are an agreed set of goals that can be achieved if all actors (participants) work together and do their part. Poor countries have pledged to govern better, and invest in their people through health care and education. Rich countries have pledged to support them, through aid, debt relief, and fairer trade. The eight MDG's are:

“The Great Architect may be a metaphor alluding to the godhead potentiality of every individual. That invisible power which all know does exist, but understood by many different names, such as God, Spirit, Supreme Being, Intelligence, Mind, Energy, Nature and so forth. The Great Architect is also an allusion to the observer created universe. We create our own reality; hence we are the architect. Another way would to be to say that the mind is the builder”.Aug 20 2009 3:58 AM

In spirit I travel by your side, I fight the deepest oceans, the hottest deserts, the changing tides.
I hold your hand and I bow my head in prayer, I love with you, I cry with you, I laugh with you
I am a part of you. Maybe we have never seen each others face or held each others hand.
Perhaps we have never walked down the same streets or traveled to each others land.
Yet I am with you, as certain as the sun that rises, as steady as the moon that lights the way by night.
I am steady, tried and true, I am one with you. May you and yours be blessed!!!

Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
and unbearable compassion.
Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mistic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens thet saints and poets have imagined.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts.
I have wished to know why the stars shine.
Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always compassion brought me back to the earth;
cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in femine, of victims tortured
And of old people left heloless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer...
THIS HAS BEEN MY LIFE; I FOUND IT WORTH LIVING

Verse 1:
Ain't it about time that we start livin this life by leadin as examples. (yeah) Before this world that exists ends up rottin to the core by one bad apple.(umm) From my block to Bancock, it's a mighty big world much further than the eye can see.(yeah) That's no excuse for you and I to think what if things still don't afect you and me. The things we don't see. I think we need to recognize.
Chorus:
Who (who) who (oh yea) who who (who you) who who (if you don't recognize). Who (who) who (oh oh) who who (who) who who.
Verse 2:
Yeah you got the crib of ya dreams and you rollin on dubs. But tell me where's the love. (where) You betta rememba, for every picket fence in the suburbs, down the street there's a growin ghetto, on the other side. (yea) And how along the way where did we how did we forget about the children. (oh oh) Maybe that's why we're playin catchup tryna make up for ones we lost over time. (oh failin to realize0 ( oh yea, oh yea)
Chorus:
Who (oh oh) who (who cares) who who (who's gonna lead us) who who (is anybody listening out there) who (it's so who) who (who yea) who who (oh) who who (you gotta understand).
Verse 3:
???, if a bombshell falls (falls). Then the children, and the laughter, the green pastures would come to an end.See the choice (choices we make) we make seals our faith (ooh Lord yea). So glad you tuned in. Hello, is anybody listening out there (oh)... Need some time to breathe (yea). We all need time to breathe, get our thoughts together (yea).
Chorus:
Who (who) who (who) who who (who's gonna care) who who (oh who Lord) who (who) who (who) who who (who) who who (who).
Bridge:
Who's gonna really care, who's gonna take us there, who's gonna change there ways, who's gonna p
