For several months at the end of the century, five souls collided in a dank Lansing basement to explore the intersection between the past and the future. What they found was the present, and the summer of 1999 was never the same again.
The End Times featured former members of local ELHC all-stars like the Chinese Millionaires, El Smasho and Atlantis. A flurry of Michigan performances commenced, including the Gold Dollar in Detroit, the Intersection in Grand Rapids, Otherwise Gallery in Lansing and a teenage rec room party in Haslett (complete with chaperones).
By September it was over.
Jay moved to Chicago and formed the Paperbacks. Ethylester changed her name to Veloura and records both solo and with collaborators for Cometkaze Records. Ian left the USA and returned metal -- he has since drummed for the likes of Red Swan, Superchrist and Wastelander, and recently fulfilled the dream of every red-blooded mid-Michigan boy by joining a newly re-formed version of the Meatmen.
The End Times continues to operate in a highly mutated form, still chasing the same shadows but with different tools, this time from a new base in Seattle, WA. Current works can be found here.
