How I made my profile: I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace editor.
Turkish Drummer, Percussionist and Composer Engin Kaan Gunaydin was born in Melbourne, Australia.Coming from a musician family had made him express interest to this art at a really early age, learning the piano. After Primary school he continued his studies in Turkey
He auditioned for the Bilkent University Music Department and got accepted with a full scholarship award where he decided to become a professional Drummer and Percussionist. For many years he performed as a guest member with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra.Engin completed his studies with high honors.
Between his classical education, the interest he had in jazz and contemporary music had attached him more to the drumset. In Turkey he performed with Sibel Kose, Kamil Erdem, Janusz Sprot, Tuna Otenel, Sarp Maden, Yahya Dai, Sertab Erener, Husnu Senlendirici, Mehmet Ali Sanlikol, Erkan Ogur, Ismail Hakki Demircioglu, Omer Faruk Tekbilek, Melis Sokmen, Kerem Gorsev, Fazil Say, Ibrahim Yazici, Zuhal Olcay, Atiye Deniz, Ufuk Yildirim, Iskender Paydas, Ozgun and Cem Adrian.
In 2004, he won a scholarship and enrolled in the Berklee College of Music located in Boston, MA.He studied with great drummers Francisco Mela, Larry Finn, Dave Dicenso, Ralph Peterson, Jamey Haddad, Kenwood Dennard and Eguie Castrillo, Engin has had the honor to perform with Tiger Okoshi, Al Di Meola, Scott Deogburn, John Funkhouser, Mark White, Oscar Stagnaro, Jim Stinett, Winston Maccow and Bertram Lehmann, He has traveled and performed in all over Turkey, Europe(Spain, Germany, Switzerland) America (Ryles Jazz club, Regatta Bar, Drom, Texas, Washington DC, California, New York and Boston) and Mexico. He has recorded with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, Dunya Ensemble, Natalie Dietrich Group and Edip Akbayram.
He likes to be defined as a total musician instead of circled in any kind of janr (funk, jazz, latin, world) since he enjoys playing a lot of different styles of music.
Berklee graduate Engin now resides in New York as an active drummer-percussionist and is a member of the NY Gypsy All Stars
