About me:
Welcome to the new Bonfire fan site here to support Bonfire, sanctioned and supported by Bonfire and to help fans connect and come together. Please only ask to join this site if you are a genuine Bonfire FAN, we are not here for companies to advertise and sell their goods on here. If we have asked you it's our own fault, otherwise please do not try it. Here you will find information about Bonfire old and new, albums, singles, line ups, tour dates, latest news and for anyone attending any of their gigs and need help just message us and we can see what we can do. Also feel free to share photos of Bomfire gigs on here and what you love about them, feel free to tag photos to us. If there is any information on here that is not right, or you think something should be on here that isnt, please let us know after all we do not have brains full of history and information! For that we rely on friends we make along the way. Bonfire have been a big part of our lives since the begining of Cacumen and we hope it will be a big part of other peoples lives to come, join us here and celebrate their music and greatness, to many of us they have been underated and have never been the press darlings, but they are a great band who have provided us with never dying hard rock along with great guitar work that complements the distinctive melodic vocals of Mr Lessmann. A great band who's music and infulence will never die for us. Help to keep the flame burning and join us here, they deserve far much more success then they have, so them you care, show them you support them. Thank you for dropping by. Bonfire english support squad. BONFIRE HISTORY: Cacumen was founded in 1972 in Ingolstadt by Hanz Ziller and his brother Karl, for six years they played small venues with a fan base in their hometown. Claus Lessmann joined in 1978, according to a interview Claus's mother made the call that got him into the band. Claus had previously been in Ginger and Sunset and was known on the circuit. Together Hans and Claus gathered the quintet around them in Ingolstadt in 1980. They released a single called Riding away and then their self titled album Cacumen, Bad Widow was the second album recorded with very little money in a studio in Rodau Germany in 1982. Three years later they changed their name to Bonfire after recuiting Joerg Desiniger to play bass and Dominik Huelshorst was on drums, they signed to BMG IN 1986 when their new name came into effect and released the album Don't touch the light. They made their follow up album Fireworks released a year later, was done without Dominik who left due to differences musicially, this album stayed in the German charts for thirty weeks and is still classed as a hard rock classic, it went gold. During this tour Horst had to leave due to his health reasons and was replaced with Angel Schleifer. Their third album Point Blank came out 1987/88 with new drummer Edgar Patrick who replaced Tommy Wagner on drums who had stood in for a tv appearence. During the making of Point Blank Hans left the band due to differences with management, despite this their tour of Europe that year was a sell out. This album was produced by Micheal Wagener. In 1919 they recorded their fourth album Knock out, it sold more then 60,000 copies, but Hans leaving took it's toll on the band and on Claus, who after the North Amercain tour and failure to break through there, combined with what he deemed to be a filure of knockout, he left Bonfire on September 25th 1992. Michael Bormann replaced Claus but the record company did not want to release anything under the Bonfire name without Claus on vocals. Consequently Bonfire performed for the last time on July 29th 1994 without offically breaking up. After a two year break Claus and Hans reunited after meeting up at a football match and started the Glaub Dran German album together, their following was slow but growing. In 1995 they evolved into EX, with Joerg and Dominik back in, to recapture the fanbase they needed the Bonfire name again. In 1997 Freudenfeuer was released, now considered a collects item, 10,000 copies were sold striaght away. In 1996 Feels like coming home was released, an album which incudes Glaub Dran material redone with English lyrics, also in this year they won back the rights to use the Bonfire name and released the Rebel Soul album, an album containing everything you would come to expect from these guys. Since 1996 they have released almost a album every year, with many line up changes and a growing fan base. In 1999 they released their Fuel to the Flames album, it entered the German charts at no.32 and stayed there for a respectable seven weeks. In 2001 they released the album Strike X recorded at Sator Sound studios in Munich, this was followed by a successful european tour. 2002 saw the long awaited release of the double album and dvd 29 golden bullets, they went on another tour following this album, Chris Lausmann leaves the band due to personal reasons after 12 years with the band. Following a successful tour with Whitesnake the album Free was realeased, also entered the German album charts and is a very well proudced album. They then went on to record One Acoustic Night live at the music Club, a statement and chance to draw breath before making a new album. Towards the end of One Acoustic night tour, the South-East Asia Tsunami happened for which Claus and Hans organised the Rock for Asia a benefit gig, raising over 100,000 euros in Ingolstadt alone. The album Double X was released in 2006 followed by a Europen tour, it was on this tour that they recorded a live Dvd at The Firefest festival in Engalnd, one of the organisers of which had named the fireworks album after Bonfire's ACLAIMED album. In 2008 they were involved in the theatre rock opera The Räuber, each show being a sell out, a dvd was put together of the show with the You Make me feel video which is featured on the sing star playstation game. Also was released the double album called "You make me feel" The ballad album greatest hits. 2009 saw the return of Domink on Jan 15th, when Jurgen left unexpectedly. On March 25th 2010 they signed to Universal music in hopes of better record label management and realeased a new single Deutsche National Hymne which took the German charts be storm, especially during the world cup! Claus Lessmann Interview: On a warm October day I found myself sitting at a table bathed in autumn sunlight, across from the singer we all know and love Claus Lessmann. I did not imagine I would ever be doing this, imagine my shock when he said yes to the interview! On the morning of Saturday 30th October we sat down to discuss and hopefully find out some of the inner workings of Bonfire’s main man… Welcome back to Firefest, did you have a safe flight? Claus: “Yeah, there was some problems with our voyage, cause we had to stay in Munich and had to travel with the plane today, but so far quite okay, had terror warnings and stuff, but we are ready to rock.” Thank you for coming back again. Claus: “Always a pleasure.” You’ve been back three years in a row to England, is it just because we are great fans or do you like England? Claus: “Both, both of it, England has great fans, very nice people. They still know how to rock the homeland of rock n roll I would say and always a pleasure being here and I start loving it more and more and well, but you have to tour somewhere else as well, but the only thing I regret is no time, we never have enough time to walk around the city you know and spend a day in Nottingham like do a little sightseeing or whatever. Or whatever there’s no time. Have you not got any time , this time too… Claus “Only this morning, so I’ll take a walk around the city for an hour and then go back to the hotel room.” You recently celebrated yout 50th Birthday, though you don’t look anywhere near fifty… Claus: “More like sixty!” (laughs) NO! (laughs) you look wonderful you really do, your very nice… Claus: “Thank you” How do you keep looking so fit? Claus: “I don’t know, I have no idea… I just live. Live, eat, drink…” You look very good! Claus: “Thank you.” Is it difficult being in different countries for short periods being surrounded by different cultures and languages? When you are doing a gig, because it’s a different language, it is difficult to communicate…use that language? Claus: “Actually it’s not that difficult for me, so I really enjoy that, I really enjoy meeting and seeing different cultures and meeting different people, the problem only sometimes is you don’t have…because I always say something in the native tongue you know, to learn things before you go on stage. That is sometimes is a problem, speaking in Russian or whatever, difficult to remember things and read them you know.” Having been in the music business so long? How do you feel it has changed over the years? How has it changed how you write with Bonfire and the music business in general? Claus: “It has changed a lot…changed since the 80’s for example and especially the music industries they…it’s like they don’t treat you like an artist anymore. It’s more that you are just a number you know, just a person who brings money for them you know and it’s a lack or respect I think that’s the biggest problem I think, the biggest change and people are getting more and more spoilt, because at any time they can see almost anything and this wont impress, what can you impress someone nowadays, it’s not very easy.” Cause people expect too much these days. Claus: “Yeah it’s some of the negative things I think. Has it changed how you write songs or how has that developed Bonfire? Claus: “No nothing has changed when you are talking, writing…no nothing there has really changed.” Do you write from personal experience or just what’s around you? Claus: “Yeah, no everything that surrounds me, what surrounds you is personal I think.” You are a very versatile band having done the 3 football songs and the theatre production is there anything different, like the theatre production in line for Bonfire or yourself? Claus: “ No not really, I think we…this theatre thing is over for us now, but to be honest I would do it again, I would do it again anytime, it was a lot of fun and it was a completely new experience for us and maybe if somebody comes up to us and says do it again, another play maybe some Shakespeare or whatever. The Räuber was a very good interaction between band and actors… Claus: “ It worked very good, we did fifty shows and they were all sold out I think, which was really great. People say it was sold out because of you guys. Claus: “ Yeah, we’ve been honoured, somehow we can be proud. You have a very distinctive voice, it’s easy to pick you out on the Axxis 2oth anniversary song, the rough nature of your voice, is to most people what makes Bonfire’s sound. I read somewhere you have a lame vocal cord, is that in your opinion what makes Bonfire so distinctive? Claus: “Maybe…maybe, maybe it is, this is the reason my voice is a little different then others, but sometimes it’s not good, knowing that one vocal cord is like f***ed (laughs) but erm you have to live with that.” It gives you a nice sound. Claus: “Thank you, too many compliments!” I’ve read that you do a lot of charity work in Germany, some people call you Claus the good heart Lessmann, that must be something to be proud of. Claus: “Claus the what?” Claus the good heart Lessmann. Claus: “Yeah maybe I have a…how do you say that? That sort of feel that…it’s hard for me to say no and I always try to care about people.” It shows, whenever anyone I talk to say your such a lovely guy… Claus: “But sometimes you know if you are like that you end up being an asshole, you know but that’s part of the deal maybe.” You always come across as lovely, you always have time to talk to your fans. Claus: “I try to you know, but sometimes it’s not good… (SOME PEOPLE HAVE ABUSED HIS KINDNESS TOO MUCH RECENTLY, SOME THINGS HE SAID I WILL NOT PUBLISH HERE DUE TO LEGAL REASONS AND BECAUSE I FEEL IT WAS TOO PERSONAL.) Have you had any funny moments on tour recently, you would like to share with us? Claus: “No, no funny moments, it’s all so sad, no funny moments at all. It’s always fun you know, I think nothing special, it’s just a bunch of guys going out, hanging out, playing music, having fun.” When your not on tour, how do you relax and just chill? Claus: “Relax? Going out with the dog, doing bbq's, reading… Are you a good cook? Claus: “ yeah I love cooking.” I did read somewhere, some motorcycle thing, that when you go on bike trips with people, you do the cooking, it was translated from German, is this right? Claus: “Yes, that’s right I love cooking it’s very relaxing for me. What else do I do, sometimes I ride with the bike…” What type of Harley is it? Claus: “It’s a soft heritage classic, what else do I do? That’s it and I have to go to work again.” Finally do you have anything to say to the fans on the support squad, there is about 340 who have joined. Claus: “Thank you for the warm welcome to England and thanks for your support and love to come back soon.” Thank you to Claus for finding the time to talk with us at firefest, cause I know that time was very, very precious on Saturday, it really is appreciated. This is a profile/gossip part or in other words little bits of information on each band member, acquired from places like wikapedia, the internet and interviews with the band and the bonfire sites: CLAUS LESSMANN: Born: 11.9.60, Resident in Ingolstadt Germany. Instruments played: Lead singer, bass, guitar, drums. Previous and present bands: Ginger, Sunset, Cacumen, EX, Lessmann+Ziller, Bonfire. With his mischevious smile and rugged handsome looks, he is known to many as Claus 'the good heart' Lessmann. Seeming to come from a musical family, he first had guitar lessons when he was eight that were abandoned until he was ten, at the age of twelve he went onstage for the first time with his cousins band. He had two dreams when he was younger, either to do music or become a tennis pro, the music took off first and that was the path he took, with the help of his mother that made the call, that virtually got him into Cacumen. He has been in Bonfire from the beginning of the band, only having left for a brief spell on September 25th 1992 after the knock 'em out tour, due to personal reasons and later reformed the band with Hans. Outside of Bonfire and with Bonfire he has done charity work, that has been mentioned in the German press. He has also sung the Bayern Munich Stern des Südens single, a very rousing version that just begs to be played a hundred times over. Loves cooking helps him to relax when not working and going out with his dog. HANS ZILLER: D.O.B: 18.05.58, Resident in Ingolstadt Germany, Instruments plays: Lead guitar, Acoustic guitar, bk vocals, bands past and present: Cacumen, Ez livin,Lessmann and Ziller, EX, Bonfire. Hans formed the band Cacumen when he was a teenager with Karl Ziller in 1972, which later after Claus joined changed name to Bofire and after a few years changed the band line up. After Claus he is the second person to be the longest in Bonfire and one of the main influences in the band. In 1989 he was forced to part ways with the band due to differences with the management and for other reasons. He started the project Ez Livin of which Claus co wrote some songs and sang on some of the demo songs, they later formed Ex and Lessmann and Ziller and later got back the rights to the Bonfire name. One account says that it was at th WM in 1990 that Hans got back with Claus, he called Claus after Oliver Bierhoff shot the golden goal, football can and does bring friends back together! On the subject of Bonfire Hans plays for the Fc Ingolstadt football over 40's team. He was also one of the chief organisers with Claus of the Rock for Asia concert and I am sure many other charitable events. Dominik Hülshorst: D.O.B: 12.2.65, Resident in Ingolstadt Germany, Instruments: Drums. Bands previous and prsent: Bruno rock, First gerneration, Richmond T Turner, Faro, Sabu, Ez livin, Darkor, Seelenbrand, Hank Davison, Bonfire, Volt. Seen to some as the quiet mysterious one of the band, he joined Bonfire in 1985 moving from Essen to Ingolstadt. He became known as one of the original members of Bonfire under the new incarnation afetr Cacumen. He stayed with Bonfire for two years, leaving in 1987 due to musical differences. Even so he was later in E Z livin and also helped out with the Ex project. In 2009 he rejoined Bonfire in it's current incarnation, in time to perform the last of The Räuber theatre shows, replacing Bam Bam. He is involved in other bands as well as Bonfire and is involved with a drum school in Ingolstadt. YPS: D.O.B 19TH April, Resident in Munich Germany, instruments played: Lead guitar, Acoustic guitar, vocals. Bands previous and present: Vice, Wet Paint, Producer, Bonfire. Referred to by some as the Adonis of the band, because of his burnished, muscled good looks, he joined Bonfire in 2006, as the second gutarist for Bonfire. Outside of Bonfire and about three or so months ago in May 2010, Chris uploaded a video to his facebook, a song called 'I'll be there', sung by himself and proving that he is not just a great guitar player but also a good singer too. If you have'nt seen the video yet I suggest you go and watch it. Uwe Köhler: D.O.B 2005.65 Resident in Landshut Germany, instrument Bass, bk vocals, bands previous and present: Black tears, Big apple,Lipstick blitzkreig, Bristish steel, Sffair, Bonfire. Uwe joined Bonfire in the stage of incarnation after Claus and Hans got the rights to the Bonfire name and for the rebel soul album, he has been with them ever since and has become a mainstay of the band. Sources say he designed the homepage, the present one or the last one I am not sure. Uwe though does run the Bonfire myspace, keeping it updated with news, tour dates and photos. He pleasent and easy to talk to man.

Hi, my name is Ben. I know you are one of Blackie's friends? Blackie and I go back. She used to sing with a band called Desert Skin. She was also one of the biggest stars on two wheels. Blackie is what we used to call a music critic? She would hear a band and get it played immediately. Blackie is well off and makes a lot of friends in the music Industry. As you can tell, yes, I am in love with her. But if you tell this band about her, she can get enough radio play for them here in my visiting Country. I also am a dirtbiker. Thank you and I dig the profile page. Also love this music.
