Formed in late 2006 by Aram Chekijian (bass and backing vocals) and Matt Anderson (guitars and lead vocals), The Engravers are a power-trio rock band that strives to create music that is both challenging for the band, and equally enjoyable for the listener. After taking several months to write and arrange an array of songs combining styles of progressive rock, alternative, groove, and hard rock, the band rounded out the trio with drummer Ian Chang, and began hitting stages in the New York City area.
The band has been compared to other progressive bands such as Porcupine Tree and Rush (from which it draws much of it's influence), in addition to grunge bands of the early 1990s, such as Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains, whom they grew up listening to. Incorporating hard rock riffs, sprawling ambient guitars, memorable hooks and the occasional progressive time signature, the band is never afraid to explore and take their sound to new levels.
Recently, The Engravers were ranked 20th (out of over 2000 bands in all genres) in LG's Rally for Music contest (www.rallyformusic.com/theengravers), and recently hosted and headlined a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
