My name is Enajite (Eni) Loicy Pela I am a singer songwriter from Sacramento, California. I began playing the bass at the age of 15, and soon learned that it did not allow me to do what I really wanted to do which was write music. I soon discovered the guitar, and began educating myself with chord books music videos on MTV. I love music I, I love to listen to it, talk about it, and create it and hope to do it as a living. I also hope to be talented enough to let my music speak for me. I want to be the type of artist not so desperate that every thing I believe in is a compromised and I hope that my music can only help people understand me and have a better idea of what the big picture in life is. I do not have it all figured out but I do know that it has something to do with just loving on people and making a connection, with life and with living; sharing my music is sharing me, sharing all that I have got and it is difficult for me to be on that stage at times, my confidence fades, but I am so in love with it that I cannot stop, and it feeds me. I spent several years of my life in and out of hospitals because I was born with a bone disease called dysplasia, and in high school after I had hip replacements I remember that playing my guitar and writing music was my strength, it kept me going, it keeps me going. I like to call my guitar my best friend, because it is always there for me, in the worst and best moments of my life I have had a guitar in my hand. Right now thought, I am third year English major, interning at the Gender Equity Resources center, volunteer charing for the Queer Straight Alliance, and livin' life at UC Berkeley, and I spend many evenings in bars and cafes at local bay area Open Mics, just tryin'a do my thang! Oh, and getting down with the the ugly homework.
hey... yeah, i haven't been around to many open mics lately. i've played all my stuff at starry plough, so i haven't gone back 'cause i don't wanna play the same shit. i'm slowly getting another song or two together, but it'll probably be a while before they're ready to play. in the mean time, i occasionally play what i already have at new (new for me) open mic spots around the bay area.
Hey, I wish I could be there... is it a weekly thing, cuz tonight i really can't but maybe next monday... let me know. It's sounds like an awesome thing and I 'd like to check it out. either way, we should meet up soon. keep in touch.
hey, no i don't think we met, but connie chung suggested i look you up. I actually think i saw you play sproul plaza once, but i'm not sure.. anyway thanks for the kind words. i've been really digging your sound too and it'd be awesome to collaborate.
here's what i think: wed nights, sacramento open mic you would LOVE. i'll come pick you up if i have to girrrrrl! i miss your music and your peaceful nature. and if you like, you can crash at my house that night if need be, here in stockton. so call me. let's make a plan. plans are good.
somethin about the chords of 'while you breathe' seriously does something to me.
