COMPOSER LOUIS AGUIRRE WROTE:
“Being a contemporary composer and find players who want to play your music is in itself a very difficult task . But getting the possibility to work with the rare kind of players who are fully prepared, the ones who understand and give the utmost for the music that they are performing, thats when you feel that a real miracle has occurred!
That is the way I feel about my working relationship with the percussionist Enric Monfort and the DuoMetrie: a meeting that has allowed me to write the music I really like without limitations regarding to technical, musical or intellectual matters. It is a blessing for a composer to work under such favourable circumstances because it makes it possible to create the most satisfactory results. In the already long collaboration between Eric Monfort and me, there has been a kind of musical -spiritual understanding between us which has given birth to many of my latest works, directly inspired by his capacity as an instrumentalist and his understanding of my music. In my opinion Enric and Carlos Gálvez belong to the type of soloist that Luciano Berio has described as the best players of our time: modern in intelligence, sensibility and technique. Capable of moving in a very broad historical perspective and solve the tension between the creativity of today and the past, always using their instruments as a medium of expression and search.”
Louis Aguirre has written the following pieces for Enric Monfort:
-Kabiosile (2003) percussion, flute and recorder (Ned McGowan and Arwieke Glas)
-Obba Kosso (2004) percussion solo
-Añá (Liturgia de la transmutación) (2005) Percussion concerto with (Axyz) ensemble
-Ayágguna II (2006) bass-clarinet and percussion – Duometrie (with Carlos Gálvez)
-Orun de Igbodú (2006) percussion sextet – KIMBALA
-Yalodde II (2006) percussion duo – xpercussionduo
-Egungun (2007) percussion sextet - KIMBALA
-Yalodde III (2007) percussion sextet - KIMBALA
-Among flowers (2007) 4 songs based in poems by Basho, for voice, bass clarinet and percussion - Duometrie meets Kristina Fuchs
