Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of administering a drug overdose to Michael Jackson in 2009, was sentenced today in a Los Angeles courtroom. And the judge showed no mercy.

Judge Michael Pastor denied the defense’s request for probation, stripped him of his medical license and sentenced Murray to four years in a Los Angeles County jail. But because of prison overcrowding, the 58-year-old doctor former doctor could be released much sooner.

Judge Pastor said Murray “is and remains dangerous” due to his lack of remorse for the death of MJ from a fatal dose of propofol on June 25, 2009. He called Murray’s behavior “experimental medicine,” and slammed Murray’s participation in what he referred to as “money for medicine madness.”

“There are those who feel Dr. Murray is a saint,” Pastor said. “There are those who feel Dr. Murray is the devil. He’s neither. He’s a human being. He stands convicted of the death of another human being.”

Michael died “not because of an isolated one-off occurrence or incident,” Pastor said. “He died because of a totality of circumstances which are directly attributable to Dr. Murray … because of a series of decisions that Dr. Murray made.”

The prosecution is also asking for restitution for the singer’s three children — Prince, Paris and Blanket. They’re requesting the sum of $100 million in restitution for MJ’s kids, because that’s what Michael Jackson would have made in the “This Is It” tour. The prosecution also wanted Murray to pay a fair amount for the $1.8 million funeral.

The restitution issue will be taken up in court at a later date.
