Usually, when a franchise hits its fourth installment and it replaces the lead actor, you can pretty much write it off. That’s not the case with The Bourne Legacy. Jeremy Renner (The Avengers, The Hurt Locker) takes over for Matt Damon, and perhaps more importantly, Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz have entered the fold. Seriously, when was the last time either of these two made a bad movie?

The John Carter Super Bowl commercial was a great introduction to those who may not have heard of the film, but for those of you who had seen previous trailers, you were probably hoping for a little more. A new spot ran last night during the premiere of The River, and it’s loaded with action, highlighted by John Carter fighting a giant monster, among other martians.

It’s one of the most successful film franchises in all of history. With a total of eight “Harry Potter” films, all of which are in the Top 200 grossing films of all time (adjusted for inflation), it does beg the question: why has the franchise received no Oscar nods for acting, directing, writing, or best picture?
