Typically, my energy is directed toward my wife and kids. They really are my whole world.
Family time aside, I'm a car guy all the way to my squishy center. I've got two projects currently in the garage.
1998 Cobra Coupe - Manly Pistons, ModMax rods, ARP head and main studs, billet oil pump gears, Sean Hyland Stage II heads, twin 60 MM turbos, 2 Tial wastegates, Tial BOV, Griggs suspension, and a bunch of other parts with which I won't bore you. There's still a little sorting to do but we expect the car to make no less than 800 rear wheel horse power. (No, that's not a typo: eight hundred horsepower at the wheels.)
If you'd like to donate parts to the car please email me directly. :)
Music
I'm a big fan of the comedian Tom Green.
Check him out rapping with Xibit. (This is NOT work safe, due to language content.)
I've got what I like to think are broad musical interests. If what you're interested in knowing is what's on my iPod, well, here's a list:
50 Cent
Asheru (You need to listen to the stuff on his MySpace page. “Truly Unique” has serious old-school appeal.)
B.B.King (The Blues is my favorite kind of music.)
Beastie Boys (Check, Ill, Licensed, 5 Boroughs.)
Ben Folds ('Enough To Eat' is great!)
Candlebox (Their first album is the only one worth owning.)
Ray Charles
Eric Clapton (Slow Hand is the man.)
Danzig. (Black Aria is a must have.)
Disturbed (10,000 fists)
Eminem (Encore)
Foo Fighters (Their new 2CD album is their best music)
Godsmack (IV is awesome.)
The Grateful Dead (Mexicali Blues is my favorite)
Robert Johnson (Hot tamales and they're red hot!)
KRS One - South Bronx... South, South Bronx!
Linkin Park – (Hybrid Theory & the Jay-Z collaboration albums are worth owning.)
Los Lonely Boys – (Their first album. Each, and every song is great.)
Miles Davis - Some Kind of Blue is a must have
Mos’ Def’ (This is the best album I own. “Champion Requiem” is the hotness.)
Mudvayne – (Lost and Found)
Nickelback - (Newest album)
Nirvana (UnPlugged – their very best album)
Notorious B.I.G. (mostly rare stuff)
Pink Floyd – (Wish You Were Here)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Jupiter and Mars)
Kenny Wayne Shepard (Ledbetter Heights)
Shinedown (Their New Album)
Slipknot (“Pulse of the Maggots” makes me want to punch someone in the face.)
Steve Vai (“For the love of God” is my favorite piece of his work.)
Tenacious D (I’d like 4 Chicken McNuggets)
Therapy? (Hats Off To The Insane.)
ZZ Top (Recycler)
Movies
I really think you can tell a lot about a person by both the music they listen to, as well as, the movies they watch. I'm not going to go nuts with a list (man, that music list is long...) but here's a small cross section of some of my favorite movies:
American History X (You HAVE to rent this movie!)
Austin Powers (all of them)
Blood in, Blood Out.
Cannonball Run
Fight Club
Friday
Full Metal Jacket
How High
The Incredibles
Johnny Dangerously
Kevin Smith Movies... ALL of them. (if you don't know who Kevin Smith is, please close this page and kill yourself.)
Kill Bill (1 & 2)
The Longest Yard (Original and Sandler remake.)
Made
Muppets Take Manhattan (Guilty Pleasure)
Pulp Fiction
Smokey and the Bandit Trilogy (number 3 sucks)
Snatch
Spaceballs
Swingers
Taxi Driver
Ok, so I got a little carried away. I have WAY too many to list though...
Television
Again, semi-short list:
Almost anything on Cartoon network/Boomerang. (Yet another guilty pleasure.)
American Muscle Car
Anything on the Discovery Channel, TLC or History Channel
Baseball (Let's Go Mets!!!! Go Yankees!!!)
Basketball (Why do my Knicks have to suck so badly?)
Football (Pro, not college, and GO Giants!!!)
Friends
Jeopardy
King of the Hill
Nip/Tuck
Rescue Me
That 70's Show

Books
Listing titles isn't going to work. Here are some authors. If it's an obscure reference I'll throw out a title.
Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)
Michael Crichton
Bart D. Ehrman (Misquoting Jesus)
H.A. Gill, III (Soldier Under Three Flags)
Harry H. Harrison (Father to Son - Life Lessons on raising a Boy)
Gary Larson
James Patterson
Piven,Borgenicht, and Sara Jordan (The WORST-CASE SCENARIO Survival Handbook: Parenting)
John Sanford
James Schefter (All Corvettes are Red)
Bill Watterson
Heroes
I think "Hero" is too strong a word so let's talk about respect. Here's a list of people for whom I have tremendous respect.
My wife, Naz – For putting up with my crap, calling me on my bullsh*t and giving me these perfect children.
Sue Baist - For tasting perfection, and having the courage to carry on when it was lost.
Tom Baist - (Long Live the King!!!)
My brother, Nick – We’ve grown closer than I’d ever imagined possible. Serving his second tour in Iraq (Semper Fi!), I’m proud of the man he’s become. He’s going to make a great Dad , too, so hurry your ass home and give me some nephews! (Or, neices.)
My Dad, Al – (For having the strength to kick an addiction that kicked him for way too long. I’m proud of him every day.)
My Father-in-law: Shami. – (He’s the single most honest guy I’ve ever met.)
My Mother, Debbie – (For not kicking my Dad when he probably deserved it. We’re both cut from the same mold so sometimes we argue but I love her all the same.) ;)
James Wolf – (My very best friend. No one on this planet takes more of my sh*t or abuse. Thanks for not sneaking in and stabbing me in my sleep, dude. )
Brig. General Robert Wolf – For being a man’s man, and the toughest son-of-a-bitch I know. He’s a man of both strong character and characteristics you don’t find in men these days.
Long over due update, so I'm sorry guys...
Short update before I revamp the page. It's long over due, so hopefully I can get to it in the next week. :)
Anyway, I sold the Saleen last week (Friday) and it's now with it's new owner in Georgia. The new owner (Phillip) is a really nice guy, so I hope he and his wife really enjoy the car. :)
With the sale of the Saleen, I need a new daily driver. So, if anyone can point me to an 08 BMW M3 Sedan in either Melbourne Red, Gray, Interlagos Blue, or Silverstone, the SMG (auto) transmission and navigation, please let me know. I'd like an optioned car, but the items above are the only real 'must haves.'
Oh, and it's got to have less than 5000 miles on it. :)
Speaking of cars, my twin turbo Cobra project is BACK in the shop. The 200 mile new (not even broken in yet) Spec Stage 3 clutch isn't releasing properly. I pulled it out and replaced it with a McLeod RXT twin disc. I hear the clutch is good to 1000 HP, so hopefully it'll hold up for a while.
While the transmission was out I sent it to Promotion Powertrain, a local shop that's pretty well known as one of the top manual transmission shops in all of Mustang race-dom. Apparently, the "I-specialize-in-Mustang-6-speeds" clown who "fixed" the transmission last time didn't do it right and caused all kinds of issues. After looking at what was replaced, it's no big surprise it wouldn't go into 6th gear. :/
I'll get some more pics of the Cobra up as soon as I get it back (hopefully today), but it's 99% done. Assuming I get it back and it's 100%, all I need is paint and a tune to have it be done. (I thought the day would never come.)
Check out the video of the car running for the first time. With 83 pound, high impedance injectors in there (controlled by the stock computer. No injector driver required.)I can't believe it runs and idles like this.
Come on 800 horsepower!!!! *laughs*
I'm still holding on to the weight loss, too. I seem to have settled in between 195-200, even with me eating a little more trashy food. I've decided to try out the P90X program, as a few people I know have used it with pretty good success. Once I start the program I'll start posting weekly photos of my progress.
My goal is to get back around 185 but carry more muscle and less fat. The scale isn't important, but it sure is nice to need a belt to wear my pants these days.:)
No really exciting toys to speak of this week, but I promise to try harder next time. *LOL*
Ben graduated from Pre-K this week, so I'll make sure to get some pictures of the event up ASAP. People are so completely inconsiderate when it comes to these things, so i'm not sure that we have many great pics. People were constantly walking in front of the camera. It was like I was invisible.
Apparently, I'm 6' and 200 pounds of "I'm sorry, but I didn't see you there."
I also hit a local car show a few weekends ago. There were a LOT of cool cars. I'm thinking maybe it's time to start looking for an old school project.
Once you click the links above, it'll let you look at the pictures from the whole album.
This video (below) still cracks me up. It's funny how fast they grow up, though. It's also a little Sad. I can already see them going off to college. :)
I'm never sure how to start these things, so I'll simply take my usual approach: jump in with both feet. :)
I'm 33 this month (where does the time go?), married and the father of three great kids. Originally from New Jersey, I spent 4 years with an Infantry Unit in the U.S. Marine Corps right out of High School. (Think 2/8!)
My time in the Corps was some of the best in my life. I was Meritoriously promoted to E4 (Corporal) at about 2 years of service, then picked up E5 (Sergeant)at about 3.5 years.
I've been around the world twice and have lived in some really cool places. For example, I've lived in South Korea, Japan and on board the U.S.S. Saipan. (Small Aircraft Carrier)
Speaking of the U.S.S. Saipan, I'm sad to say she was decommissioned and is in the yard waiting on "final disposal."
She was good to her passengers and crew and will be missed.
Some of the more notable places I've spent time:
Africa – (Tunisia)
Bosnia/Herzegovina
France - (twice)
Greece - (Island of Crete, actually.)
Israel - (Several times, to include Haifa and Tel Aviv)
Italy - (5 times to include the Vatican and Sistine Chapel)
Japan - (Several places to include Okinawa, Tokyo, etc…)
Korea - (several places to include Seoul, Po Hang, etc…)
Spain - (twice)
Turkey – (Izmir)
School is rolling along. I'm hoping to graduate by the end of the year. That's pretty much the latest and the greatest from Northwood University. :)
Naz,my wife, is no longer a Marketing and Advertising Manager for South East Toyota. (A division of JMFE) She's now the Executive Director of Marketing with the Rick Case Automotive Group. Yes, that name sounds familiar because we now both work for the same company.
The only thing that sucks about taking the layoff is that I miss working with her. As a Director level manager, I was able to work with her on a LOT of our projects. Not many people can work with their significant other, but it was some of the most fun I've had in my entire professional career
Speaking of my significant other, Naz and I just celebrated our 6 year anniversary on the 30th of November.
As I've said before; It's funny how you don't really know what love is, until you actually find it.
Adam is now 12, and I still can't believe it. He just finished school for the year and is getting ready to go back to L.A. for the summer. We hate to see him go, but it's a good break for him.
A few weeks ago I left the garage open and someone stole Adam's pocket bike out of the garage. Even weeks later, I'm still furious. (At myself for leaving the garage open and at whoever stole it, for obvious reasons.)
If I ever find them....
Ben, is Ben. Can you believe he's already reading, counting, and doing math?
As I mentioned earlier, he just "graduated" from Pre-K, so we're ready to get Kindergarten started. I'm really hoping the school system will let him skip a grade, but the rules are pretty stupid, so we're doubtful.
He's still got a little bit of his father's dork in him, since he's a big fan of superheros. (Superman, being his favorite.) His Superman T Shirt is just about worn out.
Sara, Is three and gets a little more cute every day. No big updates here, so no news is good news, I guess. She's happy, healthy, and an all around sweetie-pants.
She may be a pain in the butt at times, but she's still my perfect little thing. (And I'm not just saying that becasue she my little petunia.) ;).
Still decidedly a kid who is the product of me and Naz. ;)
Hey there! We be busy yo! Sorry it took sooo long to get back to ya! Our reg. (usually checked often) email is jpk1681@bellsouth.net Hope everyone is doing good. Promise to keep in touch! xo
Bet you're happy with your Giants. I have to tell you they started off strong but sucked wind thereafter. A win is a win but it was messy. Eli has to watch those floaters!
The turbo $ went in the bank not fr more guns! =p I am about to sell the Mustang though. I need another break from this hobby. Getting like you w/the need a car I can just drive.
hey how are you? he told me to tell you that he knows it on guitar hero' but playing it on guitar your shit out of luck because he don't know how to play it. he says it is to hard to play. lol.
