People, what makes them tick. Science. Evolution. The conflict between this and religion. Music - primarily indie rock. Movies. Books. Running/fitness. Vegetarianism/animal rights.
Music
Right now I'm really digging (this will constantly change): Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Arctic Monkeys, Art Brut, Of Montreal, Fall Out Boy, Morrissey.
Overall my favourite artists are Radiohead, Bright Eyes, Flaming Lips, Morrissey/Smiths, Wilco/Jeff Tweedy, Talking Heads/David Byrne, Rufus Wainwright, Cake, Ian Svenonius, Dennis Lyxzen.
Movies
I recently bought the DVD of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I also bought The Incredibles, which indicates the divergence of my tastes. Actually my tastes aren't that diverse. I like movies that say something about the human condition. I have a weakness for sentimentality (not the corny or fake kind). I like being moved.
Television
South Park. Movies on cable. Can't think of anything else. I intend to try Big Love but I suspect it won't stick. The last series I followed was Six Feet Under, and I wouldn't call myself a committed fan. The last series I really enjoyed was Queer As Folk, because I felt that was really showing me something I hadn't seen before on television.
Books
kurt Vonnegut, John Fowles, John Updike, Joseph Heller. Favourite book (so far): French Lieutenant's Woman. I don't think I read enough. I'm trying to improve this state of affairs. I've realised that - as unappealing as it sounds - you have to make reading like a chore, that way you'll force yourself to do it. The payoff in terms of knowledge and self understanding is worth it.
