On the good news front, 2009 has started off on the right foot, with a stack of new tracks, remixes and collaborations from some talented producers. This has culminated in the limited edition promo - The Nexus EP - which also includes original material from DJ Joel North, Seismic Waves and Carlos Begearos. Some of these tracks were previewed in the 2009 Miami WMC Special, which aired as part of the annual closing party on Radio Danz, as well as being distributed by HousElectric, an offshoot of Purple Worm Records in the UK. The myspace (and a couple of streamable tracks) can be found here:
The annual end of year mix was bigger and better than ever this year. The 2k8 MiX was broadcast on the stroke of midnight GMT on Miami's Radio Danz (http://www.radiodanz.com) as part of their global New Year's marathon which went on well into 2009. For those that know them, Joel North, Alirumba and Punzo also got in on the fun - amongst a stack of DJs and just about every timezone you could think of!

The REWIND MiX is in the bag. After 6 years in production I have over 150 old skool tracks locked down in a 90 minute mixset. The mix got its premiere in December on Summer Time Radio (http://www.summertimeradio.com) two consecutive Sundays before Biggus, EZC and Sideshow Stretch hosted their weekly shows:

There's also the matter of the next instalment of the TOP 50 DANCE ANTHEMS OF ALL TIME video countdown which will cheer up your New Year's blues. Up to about number 18 or so I believe and I've pimped my video editing software to make it better than ever.
For those not affilliated, here are the earlier parts:

There's a bit of a story (well, paragraph) behind one of my latest tracks, which was road tested last weekend with the Sexylectro crew. Ask me when you next see me... You can hear Guitar Hero in the player below.....
=============================================
The latest in my series of Golden Ticket remixes, bringing some of my all-time favourite tunes bang up to date, is in the bag. 'Brand New Day' by Minds of Men originally came out on Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label back in 1996 and the Dekkard and Dane remix still gives me goosebumps!
I lost 5 hours of production due to some crappy system crash, but I dusted myself down and did it all again the next night (always, ALWAYS back up your data!). Anyways, check the player below for a listen....
=============================================
Headwind has been very well received so far. I laid down the original track in a couple of hours, which then had it's first radio play on the Biggus Evening Show on Summer Time Radio 30 minutes later. Isn't technology wonderful... The full vocal mix made it's way onto STR later that week and also in Joel North's Warmup Mix on Miami's Radio Danz. There are now a whole stack of remixes on the go, so thanks to Heart of Darkness, Phil Urry and Sexylectro for doing their thang. Principal footage has also been shot and composited for a promo video, which if I find the time will hopefully get completed with a brand new Electro Adjust Remix soon. This has all been a blast....
=============================================
Lots of other new tracks, collaborations and remixes on the go, working with a lot of talented people. Keep listening to see which gets locked down first...!

Welcome to the Epicentre
Matt Barker first started cutting up tracks and mixes at the ripe old age of six, chopping up segments of music, stuttering and looping what could loosely be called 'samples' using nothing more than a couple of conventional tape recorders and the family record player. About the same time, he got his first keyboard from Santa. He hated the music lessons his parents made him do, but loved making his own compositions, creating his own synth patch sounds and blending them all together in a unique way. This was way before he (or the rest of the world) even knew what house music was.
With the consumer boom of home computers in the late 1980s, Matt was first exposed to an 8 bit sampler and the cult music sequencer NoiseTracker on the Commodore Amiga. Coincidentally, by the early Nineties the underground rave scene was burgeoning, and aloof artists such as SL2 and Altern-8 proved that you didn't need to have a famous face and or a music mogul behind you to make accessible music. Matt bought a couple of keyboards and progressed into full-on MIDI production. By the time he bought his first turntables the music theory he hated so much meant he already knew how to beat-match and align harmonics. Matt got himself a DJ residency in Hull and this was getting good....
Artists such as BT and Way Out West, blending breaks, trance and house elements with traditional arrangments, greatly inspired Matt, In 1996, he recorded a series of mixsets, under the banner of 'Synthesis'. One of these showcased his debut demo track, 'Earthquake in Eden'. He needed a suitable psuedonym to use, so he chose Epicentre. The rest is history.
Initially focussing on his own material, the Epicentre moniker developed his unique style of merging progressive house, breakbeat, electro and accoustic sounds, which has seen him remix on a wide range of genres. Epicentre helped define the cult status of the bands Mardrae and Arcade beyond their mainstream fanbase, whilst collaborating with likeminded DJs and producers such as Phil Urry of the Shine Boys in the UK and Joel North of Miami's Radio Danz.
The last two years have seen a renaissance in Epicentre productions. He has garnered interest from as far away as Asia and North America, moved into film-making and is an avid digital artist. Recently, Epicentre mixsets have been broadcast on the UK-based music station Summer Time Radio. The Gulf Stream Electro Mix, followed by the Miami Winter Music Conference Mix, were broadcast on Radio Danz in Miami, fusing a selection of quality electro tracks with a multitude of Epicentre compositions. Most recently, Barker has collaborated with DJ Alirumba of Sexylectro fame to form the remix partnership Seismic Waves.
