Epileptic Disco was formed in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston in the Fall of 1993 by Boston Latin Academy Alumni Tom Appleman, Rick McLean, Dennis Doherty, and Dan Daly. ED added Sam Appleman (Tom's brother) as a second emcee in October of 1995 after Sam jumped on stage during one of ED's shows to freestyle. From that point on, ED developed a unique sound of rap vocals layered with powerful heavy laden funk. ED released its first full length album in the Spring of '97 titled "Spread the Seed." ED's popularity grew with its independent release and in the Fall of '97 they signed a recording contract with Heavy Rotation Records (a division of Berklee College of Music) and released "Before, During, and After..." in May of '98. Jeff Rothman played drums on the second album and remained with the group until they disbanded in 1999. Over the years, ED played over 250 shows throughout the New England area (primarily Boston). Although nearly 10 years have passed, ED may be considering a reunion show in the near future...
