BIO Born in Paris in 2002, Equation has quickly established itself on Paris stages as the upcoming nu-soul band, scoring gigs in Paris hottest music spots (la Scne Bastille, le Triptyque, le Baiser sal, le House Of Live, New Morning, ). Now, craving for a larger audience, Equation has successfully opened up to festivals Festival SOLIDAYS (France), Airfusion Festival - Devon (UK), Auxzarbs Auxerre Festival (France) and is currently looking for a record deal.
MUSIQUE Equation gathers a Gospel-fed smooth, sensual voice and four musicians with influences from Jazz to Hip-hop. EQs compositions wave between Erykah Badus neo-soul and Morcheebas spleen.
Neosoul, our definition?
The neosoul is a musical tide represented by todays artists such as Erikah Badu, Jill Scott,... Neosoul roots are to be found within all deviants of the hip-hop, jazz, soul world scene (Meshell Ndegeocello, DAngelo,). Its all about intertwining rhythms of hip-hop and harmonies of jazz or others, into a slow velvet sound where the silk-voice will weave its blues.
EQs music is clearly a resonance of those soul alternatives whose terms (jazz, hip-hop, blues) recall the African-American roots. Yet this echo is different because it springs from French natives who, during their own musical journey, have somehow become imaginary migrants of the New World.

Le concept est de sortir une série de maxi vinyl (3 volumes de 2 titres).
Pourquoi le vinyl ? Parce que l'on trouve que c'est le support le plus approprié pour faire du rap, par son authenticité, sa qualité sonore, et son histoire à travers les racines du Hip Hop !
