Equinox was formed in 1988 in Manstad, Norway. They released a demo called "What the fuck is this?" shortly after, but this demo was not really spread much around. During the xmas week of 1988 they went into the famous Athletic Sound studio in Halden and recorded what would become the infamous debut LP Auf Wiedersehen. This LP was released on their own label Laughing Deer (reference from the film Evil Dead II), but was shotly after picked up by BMG/RCA who then signed them in 1989. The LP was re-issued and Equinox toured Norway substasially. They did gigs at Roskilde Festival, Marquee Club, Quart Festival, Thrash festivalen with Backstreet Girls, Old Funeral, Mayhem, Artch, Witchhammer, Aunt Mary, Red Harvest, Life but how to live it, Tindrum and Cadaver and their cross-over appeal made them a household name both with metal and rock fans.
