In 2003, we marked ten years at Ronnie Gator's on Perryville. And in 2008, we had the big ten year party at Vinny's on Block Five. It was great to see so many of you! And if you couldn't make it, don't worry... the fifteen year shabang will be here before you know it: summer 2013, baby!! Julia's already brainstorming...
Music
"Three cheers for Rockford High School! Cheer, Rah, Rah, Rah! We've got the team, boys! Cheer them on to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! Faithful, loyal fellows: they shall not lack! Cheer them; they fight for the red and black. R-O-C-K-F-O-R-D E-A-S-T H-I-G-H! Gooooo East!"
Movies
Ummmm like, Titanic, because that was in theatres for pretty much our entire senior year, right? hahaha...
Television
All those daytime TV shows we rushed home to see after our day ended at like, 2 in the afternoon! Man, those were the days!
Books
All those textbooks lost in the back of the locker, somewhere...
Heroes
Michele went to college with this guy Thomas, and Thomas said, "You know what's neat? Every other Rockford high school has an actualy physical mascot. Jefferson has the J-Hawks; Guilford has the Vikings, etc., but East--you guys were the ERABS. Your mascot is a state of mind." Kinda makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside, huh? Nevermind that funky falcon thing they've adopted. Rab? Umm, NO.
..
Hey Class of 98! How the heck have you been? This Rockford East ERABS Class of 98 MySpace profile has been created so that we can connect with our graduating class along with allowing us {Julia (Steiner) Halsted and Michele Beilke} to communicate about reunions and other fun shtuff. And hopefully it will give y'all a chance to reconnect as well. Can you believe it's been 10 years! Wow!
Who I'd like to meet: The ERABS Class of 98! Where IS everybody? Bueller...Bueller...? Please do spread the good word that we are here on MySpace and Facebook as well. Or for the haters, they can just email us at ERabsClassOf98@hotmail.com. Tell your friends, put this profile in your top friends, that sort of thing.
Next reunion...SUMMER 2013! Who wants to plan it? Just kidding. I would also like it to be in the summer next time. I just couldn't get it together on time to do summer this time. I became a mother, a wife, a homeowner and started a new job all within the last 15 months...so it's been hard to get it all done. I wanted to say a special thanks to everyone that has been helping out with getting addresses, emails, phone numbers, and decision making. You're the BEST!!!!!!!
Hey Julia.. I just wanted to let you know that I have a ton of free time now that my football season is over, so if you need any help with anything, let me know.. hope all is well :)
Wow... I have to say I'm sitting here laughing right now guys! Don't get me wrong... the planning is VERY important and yes Julia I am thankful you are pulling everything together for us cuz as the comments show it seems like that is going to be one hell of a thing to do! lol If you need any help let me know. Feel free to send me the lost n found list and I'll help ya out if I know anything or can find anything. My email is NSchuenke@gmail.com. One suggestion, it seems several people have stated the desire to get nice and drunk.... might I suggest somewhere with a hotel nearby so the night doesn't result in a 2nd reunion in the jail house! lmao!!!!
Okay...I can see there are some very strong opinions here! Just so you all know, the only thing that has really been pinned down is a date and nothing else. The weekend of Thanksgiving was chosen specifically because many people are home around then anyhow, believe it or not - kind of a two for one deal for those folks. Priority #1 is to make sure that we locate everyone so that they have the opportunity to decide if they would like to (or can) make it or not. And to be honest, I see this thing ending up somewhere in the middle of what is being suggested. I know that many of you are out of town, and can only do so much, but there are lots of people who live in town and only three people showed up to discuss planning the event. One of those people was me. And another is married to me. I know I don't have to do this, but I want to. I hope you'll all appreciate it and have a good time. I'll look forward to more detailed suggestions from everyone too. I love you, Class of 98! Ha, ha!
I AGREE WITH ALL THAT HE SAID. I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A SUMMER REUNION BUT THAT MIGHT BE FOR PERSONAL REASONS. I'M NOT BRINGING MY KID...ANY EXCUSE TO GO OUT FOR THE NIGHT AS A PERSON AND NOT A MOM IS WHAT I'M DOWN FOR.. ANY OTHERS? YOU PARENTS KNOW HOW I FEEL, WE CAN SHOW OUR KIDS PICTURES ON MYSPACE. DOES ANYONE REALLY WANT TO MEET MY KID WHO HASN'T ALREADY? I DOUBT IT.
PS: As I seem to be the official antagonist of a non formal, kid friendly reunion, I'd also like to add that a reunion scheduled the week AFTER thanksgiving wont yield much turn out. People dont want to come to Rockford twice if they dont have to...this is after an informal poll with other dissenters
What's wrong with formal?? Isn't that how a reunion's supposed to be? There are casual reunions every weekend at Rockford bars..the reunion should be different.
I can't believe how many people on here I don't know. Did I even go to this school? It's weird. Anyways thank you to all who are putting the reunion together. I'm excited. See everyone Soon..................
I got A idea were we could go for the reunion and have some fun and not have to be to dressed up.. Dave and Busters, they have party rooms, good food and fun. Just A Idea
Reunion: I'm thinking that casual would be great. I did get some negative feedback about how extremely casual the five year "get-together" was. So, maybe casual, but more organized and spacious? Well, it seems as though there is more interest this time around in getting the word out and people willing help. That was the biggest problem last time...major issues locating the majority of people. I've heard that class of 97 or 96 is planning something that is costing about $50 per person...way steep! Plus, who's gotta front the money to reserve that kind of thing? Yowza!
Hey everybody!!! Hope everyone is doing good and life is treating everyone well. Just thought I'd drop in and say that I agree with Kristin and Andy. Laid back.... relaxed... mingle... no fancy dancy stuff! lol
