Eran James Bio:
Eran James is a singer-songwriter from Melbourne Australia, discovered his voice at a very early age, and soon after began local gigs at a wide variety of venues. It was then in 1999 where Eran was discovered by his long time, and present manager Shane Monopoli who heads up his company Heaven Music Australia. Shane also being a producer started writing and producing tracks with Eran and two years later when Eran was still only 12 they signed a deal with Universal Music.
In 2002 Eran released his debut album “Reviewing The Situation” Forget about neo-retro, blurred genres, old or nu-skool. This is true school. Eran James slips comfortably, masterfully, into 13 soul classics and obscurities. As he interprets James Brown’s dark and mournful Forever Suffering, or George McRae’s levitated love jam I Get Lifted, Eran James searches for the essence in every line.
Then tragedy struck. Eran’s mother, Wendy - his best friend, supporter and champion- passed away on August 3, 2006, after a brave fight with cancer.“I was depressed, I was down, I was out,” Eran says. “My dad is a hard worker who provides well for our family. But my mum took me to singing lessons, rehearsals and gigs, and had a real passion for what I do.” Amid the darkness, Eran relocated from his Melbourne home to New York City to record his next album “Ten Songs About Love”. Eran James, now 19, has grown, the New York experience was surreal. His producer in New York, Jay Newland, who helmed Norah Jones’ 20-million-selling debut album “Come Away With Me”, described Eran as the authentic article, the real deal.
Now 2008 Eran lives in London due to an amazing opportunity that was offered to him and his manager Shane Monopoli. It came about after Eran opened all ten shows for Sir Elton John at the end of 2007, Sir Elton John was so impressed with the 20 year old that he was given the opportunity to move to London where he would help take his career to the next level. Eran is current working on the next album, stay tuned and we will keep you up to date.
