Era Nocturna started in 1999 as a means of emotional exorcism for Dae Noctem, the project's sole member. She uses both the real and digital in the creation of her music, from rough mix to final creation, mixing all of them seamlessly into a harrowing yet ethereal soundscape. EN’s unique and emotional sound has become a mainstay, although obscure one, in the underground electro-goth genre.
“I usually compose the song musically,” Dae says of her method for creating songs. “And then I’ll do a rough vocal mix and build from there, because the vocals sometimes help change the tone of the music. The lyrics often have a different vibe that isn't being represented by the music so I have to change it, either by adding or subtracting to help make room. Because sometimes the song takes on a life of its own once I put words to it.”
Dae has collaborated with several artists both within and outside of Era Nocturna, most notably Heavenly Creatures and Finkster. In addition to these collaborations, the band took part in the compilation The Fog Presents Silence, a CD released to benefit gothic people in need, an issue she feels very strongly about.
Dae releases all of her own work independently via the internet. Those of the old school bent may contact Dae through the various channels to inquire about hard copy formats. In time she may explore the idea of performing live on a somewhat regular basis but for the time being, Era Nocturna remains a studio project. To date she has released two albums, Prelude (2002), a darkwave/electro debut and De Profundis (2006), a neo-electronic classical release. She has recently completed the recording for Lackluster, which was mixed by Dr. Ohm of Heavenly Creatures.
“When I wrote it I was in a much different place,” Dae says, regarding the new album. “But now I’ll be happy when it’s finished. I hate and love this record all at the same time.”

Hi Dae Noctem....I write this from Mexico city and it's a pleasure to me, find music like yours, because i dont know if you have ever listened to mexican bands.. but its a fact that many bands are playing old things....anyway i really love your songs, when i first listened to beautiful death and paid attention to the lyrics, i said ;cooool, deep lyrics and good music.....i like apiphany, empty and happily never after....keep that melancholic music yeahhhh thanks.....
