A NOTE TO ALL MY FANS: First off, before we launch into the professional bio, I wanted to say THANK YOU for stickin' with me through all these years. I know all of you know of the long, tough struggle that it's been for me as an independent female artist in the industry. (If you're new, read my first blog ever.) Because of how badly I've been burned by the people I've worked with in the past, I didn't want any of the music touched by them to be on my page today. With God's blessings, I've made it through the storms, and they can't touch me now.
So, I've started from scratch, and EVERYTHING on my player now (besides "Oh," produced by my good friend Roca), is SELF-WRITTEN, SELF-RECORDED and SELF-MIXED. These are my raw vocals - no special effects, no retouching - just me pourin' out my heart at home. I am a songwriter, first and foremost, and I don't need the gloss to share with my fans the music that I write.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, **WELCOME** now to a new chapter as I've now been given not just a mic, but a CAMERA to bring you more into the world of music that I live in. I am soo excited that now, as a TV HOST, I can do what I love and still be in the industry that I can't live without.

A California native that calls both L.A. and the Bay home, Erica O’Young has been a fixture in the urban music world for more than six years now. A respected hip hop / R&B songwriter and recording artist, she has worked with legendary Motown greats and the hottest young producers alike. A Motown fanatic by age 10, Erica grew up in love with all things hip hop and R&B. At the same time, years of training since young in classical piano and violin rounded out her musical background. Erica’s unique mix of influences gives her songwriting a distinct urban edge backed by a natural musicality that stands out from today’s playlists. Erica has performed before crowds from 400 to 60,000 nationwide as a solo artist. A well-respected songwriter, she has written songs for musical artists, film and TV. In addition, she is an established on-air VJ that has hosted shows on networks ranging from EA to BET to MTV.
Most recently, Erica was seen on “Extra” hosting the red carpet at the 2009 Clive Davis/Recording Academy Grammy’s Gala. Currently, she hosts independently on a weekly basis for several TV and online series doing celebrity music interviews with the likes of Jadakiss, Keri Hilson, MIMS, Marques Houston..to name a few. She also had the recent honor of exclusively hosting the red carpet at Def Jam/Universal’s “Who’s Next?” music showcase in Beverly Hills, and is slated to host upcoming events for both Konvict Music and Def Jam. Erica is also the former host of Myx Music Countdown, the 1 international music video show.
Erica holds a BA in Journalism from the prestigious Stanford University and has worked in production at Fox, The International Channel, and as Editor of Entertainment of The Stanford Daily.
As a host, Erica's rare combination of sassiness, wit and insight give her an instant likability. She is respected by the music world for her in-depth knowledge of music and its industry.
