Some of the most influential drummers for me: Ringo Starr, Al Jackson, Jr., Charlie Watts, John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Cliff Davies, Joey Baron, my college fraternity bro' Guido, and ALL the Chicago blues drummers I have met throughout my career, most notably: Steve Collier, Willie Hayes, Dave Jefferson, Big Eyes Willie Smith, B.J., and Patrick Doody. I am also influenced by every hand percussionist I have ever seen or heard, no matter what their skill level may be. I always hear something unique from every musician I encounter!
Sounds Like
With 20+ years playing drums and percussion as a sideman in Chicago, I have worked in Blues, Rock, R&B, Country and Tiki Bands. My style of play is groove oriented. For drumkit gigs I use a single pedal on the bass drum, and usually play one of my vintage drumkits. For percussion gigs, I use a variety of hand percussion instruments along with congas, bongos and tubano drums. I also play the ukulele. My solo project is the TIKI COWBOYS with me playing Ukulele and Percussion instruments.
