Puttin’ the jazz back in smooth.
Eric Bolvin serves up some very tasty trumpet, flugelhorn and EVI playing on his latest EBjazz Records release The Night, The Rain And You. Produced and recorded with all the state of the art equipment this cd is a delight for the smooth jazz listener and the jazz purist alike. While most smooth jazz leaves you begging for more, Eric delivers the goods with some funky originals and soulful covers of some R&B favorites.
Sit back and enjoy Eric’s cool arrangements of the soul classics That’s The Way Of The World, What’s Goin’ On and As. A unique cover version of Donald Fagen’s The Goodbye Look features some great Latin percussion from Bay Area percussionist extraordinaire Timo Gutierrez while Eric and Timo are joined by bassist Dan Robbins for a sexy rendition of My One And Only Love.
Eric’s originals are all about the funk and feature some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s funkiest cats; Myron Dove on bass, Michael Renwick on guitar and Peter Booras on drums. Myron also did all of the mixing for the cd.
Eric Bolvin and Quorum are a popular Bay Area jazz group and have been featured at numerous clubs, festivals and concerts. Eric is also in demand as a freelance musician, composer and arranger and has performed with Dave Weckl, Russell Ferrante, Steve Smith, Dave Liebman, Sam Moore, Wayne Bergeron, Greg Adams, Dee Daniels and many others.
