Ahimsa Beat at the Docksider - Eric Brewer Solo What's up, my name is Eric Brewer. I'm 24 years old and I am a guitarist based out of Northwestern PA. I like to throw down hot fire. I picked up my first guitar at age 16 and haven't put it down since. While still in high school, I took college courses in music at a local university and played in their classical ensemble. I also took private instruction on the side from local guitar master, Mike Ohm, who shared a wealth of information with me. After finishing high school, I was able to enter Pittsburgh's Duquesne University School of Music with college credits and a nice scholarship already in hand. After hanging around Pittsburgh for a few years, I returned to my hometown to forge on from here. I'm an avid songwriter as well as performer and guitar teacher.
Aside from my band Eric Brewer & Friends, I perform with acoustic singer/ songwriter Claire Stuczynski, Ron Yarosz and The Vehicle, and jazz bassist Steve Trohoske's Ahimsa Beat. I am also involved with several other special projects as they arise.
I had the honor of competing in Guitar Player Magazine's Guitar Superstar 08 in San Francisco, CA. While I didn't place in the top 3 for the "big" prizes, I very much consider myself (and ALL of the contestants!) a "winner" just by being there. I still received a great prize package and an unforgettable trip to CA. Meeting some of my all time guitar heroes was the thrill of a lifetime! Thanks to Guitar Player, and especially editor, Michael Molenda, who made all of us feel like rock stars!
This page is really about the stuff that I write and record on my own, with whatever musicians I happen to be jamming with at the time, hence the title "and friends". Currently, the EB&F line up includes myself, Charlie Meyer -Keyboards & trumpet, Joel Polacci and Steve Barone on drums and percussion, Ralph Reitinger on bass, and Erie's best saxmaster, Joe Cieslak. I pretty much like to play anywhere with anyone (with a few exceptions) so if you need a guitarist to throw down some heat rocks, get in touch. I also love studio work and have enjoyed recording sessions for many well known artists. Most recently, I did lead guitar work for the new Dirty Looks CD "California Free Ride" and joined them live on stage at the Warner Theater in Erie.
