<p> Eric Chung is an award-winning veteran of the collegiate and professional a cappella scene. He has made his mark as a singer, director, songwriter, arranger, vocal percussionist, and live looper. In 2011, he released his solo CD, "It Was You All Along", which is now available from iTunes, Amazon, and other online sellers..<br> <p>A classically-trained violinist, he started his singing career with the Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones, for whom he sang tenor and vocal percussion and wrote nearly fifty arrangements. He has since founded, directed, and/or sung with several semi-professional a cappella groups, Most significantly, he founded, directed, arranged music for, and wrote original songs for the acclaimed Boston-based pop/rock vocal band Downtown Crossing (DTX). In 2008, Eric was recognized as the winner of the A Cappella Originals songwriting contest for his song "Memory Is a Minefield," written while a member of DTX. In early 2009, his current vocal band <a href="http://www.strangersinharmony.com">Strangers in Harmony</a> won second place in the Pacific Northwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes; the Strangers recently opened for the Bobs and are enjoying being a key part of the music scene in Portland. <br> <p>Eric was recently recognized with a nomination in the <a href="http://www.casa.org/aca2010n">2010 A Cappella Community Awards</a> for Best Solo A Cappella Project; other artists nominated in this category include singing legends Bobby McFerrin and Scott Leonard (lead singer of Rockapella).<br> <p>Eric also is a lead instructor for <a href="http://www.pdxvox.com>PDX Vox</a>, Portland's innovative 60-person community a cappella workshop program, and he annually serves as a judge for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella competition. Other past projects include directing the New York-based pop/jazz a cappella group Stay Tuned (a runner-up in the New York Regional Harmony Sweepstakes under his leadership) and directing the Gross Prophets at the University of Chicago. -
