With his roots in Athens, Georgia, Eric has been a student of songwriting since the age of 16. Eric and his band have played over a hundred shows in the last two years around the Southeast and are looking to take their popular sounds to the national level. Eric’s soul-filled stories of break-ups, heartache, re-kindling of relationships, freedom, and – finally – hope fill his debut album. Eric Dodd’s new CD, Heal, explores the poignant moment between darkness and dawn. Eric delves deep into that stage of despair in which an instant of recognition can alter a life or keep it the same, the very small window of opportunity in which a change of mind can result in a change of heart that leaves the listener with a highly emotional mix of loss and love, sadness and joy, confusion and clarity, vulnerability and power.
Each track is masterful, powerful and executed in a way that draws you in from the very first note and does not let you go until the last. Apparent is a strong consistency of style that defines the entire CD with the ‘stamp’ of the Eric Dodd Band, however each song carries its own unique and individual flair that showcases the brilliant creativity and incredible versatility that IS the Eric Dodd Band.
Heal is musical proof that the dinosaur days of the one hit wonder is over. From the catchy Pop Rock sensibility of 1 Night (Undercover Angel) through the driving sense of urgency behind Heal to the acoustic brilliance of Give Her Freedom and each masterpiece in between, every song on Heal is a breakout hit in its own right.
ERIC DODD BAND Plays Un-hyphenated Rock 'n' Roll

Alt-rock. Modern-rock. Pop-rock. Grunge-rock. Punk-rock. (sigh) Somewhere along the lost and lonely asphalt highway of hyphenated –rock it seems we’ve lost the ability to make plain ol’ down home, no-holds-barred, no pretensions, raucous, rebellious, righteous rock ‘n’ roll. How refreshing then to pop Eric Dodd Band’s Heal into the CD player. Ahhhh! Rock ‘n’ Roll… minus the hyphen.
Dodd and company play rock the old fashioned way – guitars, drums, occasional strings and organ, but only when called for, heartfelt vocals that you can actually understand, and lyrics that bemoan the desperation of love lost, extol the ecstasy of love found, and occasionally comment on the state of life in general. At times the guitars crash and thunder. At other times the go all soft and mellow, succumbing to the siren call of the acoustic. Either way, there is a sweet intensity that holds your interest, beckons you to head nod along, and maybe even sing along when you get the notion.
The album opens up with the favorite topic of all true rockers – girls; or more specifically, that one special girl. The song is “1 Night,” and chances are, if you are a guy, you’ll recognize yourself – or one of your dreams. “Goodbye Kiss” cops a riff from Boston’s classic hit, “More Than a Feeling,” before spinning off into uncharted territory. “Heartache Song” merges acoustic and electric guitars with some tasty keys to embellish the fatalistic lyrics of the inevitability of a coming broken heart.
Frontman Eric Dodd’s southern grit vocals are particularly effective on such meandering acoustic ballads as “Welcome Back” and the slightly more up-tempo, “Georgia Grove.” But that doesn’t mean he wimps out on the edgier tunes like the title cut and the album’s closer, “Angels of Hope.”
Heal is a top of the heap CD. Once you get it in your CD player, you might have a hard time getting it out.
