Music
Music is a very powerful tool. It sparks a lot of emotions and memories. Since I’m not a very talkative guy, writing and music were the best ways to express myself during this difficult time. All these songs help to tell my story. The song titles in this book soundtrack are chapter and essay titles used in the book. This iMix was a unique way for me to make my own soundtrack! What songs would you pick to tell your story?

BRAIN TUMOR AWARENESS
Television
LOST, 24, Heroes, the Simpsons, the Family Guy, That 70's Show, Season 1 and 2 of Scrubs, Freaks and Geeks (why did they have to cancel it?), and of course SportsCenter.
"Reversal" by me, "Blink" and "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell, "Freakonomics", "The Kite Runner", anything by Michael Crichton, Ann Rice's Vanpire Chronicals, "The Di Vinci Code", and the Harry Potter series. I'm embarrased by the last two titles mentioned, but they are a guilty pleasure.

About me: I'm a 33 year old guy from Michigan. I graduated from physical therapy school at U of M-Flint in Dec. 2003. I woke up one morning and decided to move to San Diego. So I did. I knew 2 people when I moved, but I made some great friends here on the West Coast. I have not regretted one day of my decision.Brain cancer/tumors are fairly rare in young active men. September 10th 2005, I was told I had a huge brain tumor, a meningioma the size of a golf ball at the base of my brain between the brain stem and my cerebellum. In the following months: I had brain surgery to have the tumor removed; radiation therapy to get rid of the remains; Speech, occupational, and physical therapy for all the physical and mental impairments I was left with after the surgery. I was receiving rehab at the hospital where I used to work. My coworkers were now treating me as a patient! During my recovery: I led a team that raised over $11, 000 for the National Brain Tumor Foundation, wrote/published a ground breaking book about my experiences as a young brain tumor patient and healthcare professional, created a support network for young adult survivors, spearheaded the development of an online website designed to empower cancer/brain tumor patients through knowledge, organized a national book tour, and initiated a few more projects yet to be revealed. The rest of my story isn’t written. I'm finding out a lot about myself and am in the process of re-defining who I am. All I know is that I’m going to fully enjoy living the rest of my storyCHECK OUT www.ericgalvezdpt.com FOR MORE DETAILS!

I am sad to report that I came across a news article from the BBC that reports Cervical Cancer stole another young life. Could you please help me STAND UP TO CANCER by visiting my blog, reading today's post, watching the short video and commenting. We need to let the world know this is an important topic to us and that we will no longer be pushed aside and ignored by our doctors. I don't want to needlessly lose anymore women to this horrific cancer!!
