I am a good guy, a writer, an intellectual type with a twist of irony. My ouevre includes novels, short stories, poetry, plays, essays. I have written a collection of short stories titled Destination: Short Stories, (Dec., 1999) and a personal essay/memoir, My Salvation: A Memoir in Fragments (2007). I have been published here and there in small press magazines, online, and in journals.
I am an Orthodox Christian, politically liberal, consistently pro-life, environmentally aware (matter has intrinsic value), a pacifist (not passive-ist), and other stuff.
When I was much younger, I was a missionary in a group called YWAM (Youth with A Mission), left home for Arkansas, and spent several months in Guatemala. After that I graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in southern California. After that I went to Shasta College in Redding, CA then Santa Rosa JC in Santa Rosa, CA, and finally attended a few classes at Cal Berkeley. (I love the city of Berkeley and the bay area.) Now I live in Kansas City. I may go back to school again soon.
I am interested in people, and genuinely like just about everyone I meet. I live alone and care for my two beautiful boys, meditate, write, and seek health spiritually, physically, emotionally and psychologically. I also like to joke around a lot.
I have a LiveJournal I write for often: mantis muse
My muse is the praying mantis. Some species of the female mantis eat the brain of the male in order to release the chemical which allows for the motion of copulation. Fecundity arises from death. My mantis has risen from the noetic netherworlds to destroy my writing ego, freeing me on the path towards authentic artistic expression.
Who I'd like to meet: I enjoy the company of intelligent, self-aware people. A sense of humor is encouraged. I'm here to find old friends and make new ones, so feel free to message me!
I know this great car place- it's call Neils Auto or something like that. They pick you up to go look at the car. Just kidding. How's that going? Any luck?
I got teased a lot in Porterville about being from Weed. Now people think it's cool that they know someone from Weed but I am embarrassed to tell them I went to high school in the armpit of the state of California... ;)
