Eric Lemieux is a composer, guitarist and Quebecois poet who creates original music for all types of formations. He also wrote several soundtracks. He began his training by taking singing lessons with Diane Hamel in the 80’s then went to McGill University to study Music Theory, Music History, Musical Ear Training and Jazz Harmony (1986-1988). He also had private composition lessons with the composer Jacques Hétu (1997-1998) and studied orchestral conducting with Bernard Tétu and Paolo Bellomia. In 2000, he takes interest in film music and studies at New York University with Buddy Baker. His diversified musical studies have earned him a Bachelor degree in musical composition (under the supervision of Michel Longtin, University of Montreal, 2000) as well as a Master’s degree in musical composition (under the supervision of Alan Belkin, University of Montreal, 2002). He is an adept of Taoism.

Eric Lemieux est un compositeur, guitariste et poète québécois créant des musiques originales pour tous types de formations. Il a signé plusieurs musiques de films. Il entame sa formation dans le domaine du chant auprès de Diane Hamel, dans les années 1980. Plus tard, il se perfectionne à l'université McGill (1986-1988), en théorie musicale, en histoire de la musique, en formation auditive et en harmonie jazz. Il suit également, à titre individuel, des études de composition auprès du compositeur Jacques Hétu (1997-1998). Il étudie en outre la direction d'orchestre auprès de Bernard Tétu et Paolo Bellomia. Dès 2000, il se tourne vers la musique de films, qu'il étudie à l'université de New York chez Buddy Baker. Variées, ses études musicales sont couronnées par un baccalauréat en musique (2000), université de Montréal, auprès de Michel Longtin) et par une maîtrise en musique (2002, université de Montréal, auprès d'Alan Belkin). Il est adepte du taoïsme.

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)

Was the motive behind the invasion of Iraq anything other than the arrogance on the part of the possessors of wealth and power? Did they represent the countries of the world? Have they been mandated by them? Have they been authorized by the people of the world to interfere in all parts of the globe, of course mostly in our region? They have not even allowed their people to oversea or monitor their financial policies. They introduced all laws and regulations in defiance of all moral values.
