Combine a vocalist who’s been described as “a soulful cross between John Fogerty and Jeff Buckley,” a soulful guitar player and a songwriter with a natural ability to craft engaging lyrical journeys and you’ve only begun to appreciate Eric Mattei’s musical message.
Eric Mattei is a self taught musician and songwriter. He's worked with Jamie Stewart of THE CULT as a co-producer and learned how to produce, arrange and refine a song. Eric’s musical journey was put on hold when he left music for a period of time.
Sometime later Eric went through a great deal of personal turmoil which culminated in the death of his best friend on New Year’s Day that he decided to rekindle what gave his life purpose and balance….music. Once he began playing music again Eric also realized that he had an irrepressible desire to tell his story through music.
Eric rediscovered the joy of songwriting during the still hours of the night while he worked throughout the day. Just nine months after having picked up a guitar and notepad again; the songs of Lonely Commotion captured and retold Eric’s story and spelled out his vision that we are not alone in this commotion of modern living.
Lonely Commotion is truly a full length album with autobiographical songs like No Boundaries (recently featured on “Chill Out”) and epic songs like Guilty Victims, to the stripped down and live acoustic performance of My Song.
Eric draws fans to his shows with live performances that are exhibitions of pure emotion. When Adrian Eccleston (Nelly Furtado, Kylie Minogue) first heard Eric play live he requested to play bass for Eric’s sold out CD release party at one of Toronto’s most renowned concert halls; Revival. Joe Saturino; Revival’s owner, said of Eric: “I really appreciate when music is sung well and with amazing passion. Eric demonstrated both of these attributes along with professionalism and talent. Great work!”
Eric continues to sell out venues around Ontario and is gaining momentum as he plans for the production of his next studio album START LIVING.

I want to thank everyone for their generous support this past week at my Local Gig! Together we raised close to $1000 in cash and food donations for the daily bread food bank! Feeding people with music is a beautiful thing to do!
