I was the guy everyone said should do stand-up. I didn’t think my kind of funny would translate to the stage. I was wrong. I tried it, and fell in love with, the rush I get when the crowd laughs at my jokes. I love to interact with the crowd. The rowdier the better.

Our brand new Professional Stand-up Comedy Writing class with veteran comedian Meechie Hall starts on April 2, 2009. It focuses on writing comedy for different situations and audiences. The class will help you become a better comedian and a better writer. He will prepare you to audition for comedy clubs across the country as well as the college circuit. It will show you how to get the edge (no pun intended) in stand-up comedy contests.
The Edge Comedy Pro Writing Class is a fun and relaxed learning environment that was developed by comedian Meechie Hall to advance your comedy to the next level. It focuses on developing and creating comedy material as a group, while further developing your individual voice. Edge Comedy’s Pro Writing comedy class provides an in-depth study of comedians and material. In cooperation with booking agents, comedic actors, managers, and directors, this course was created to improve acting, improvisation and stand-up comedy routines. This is an 8-week class. It will start on April 2 and run Thursday nights at 6:30pm-8:00pm through May 21. The final night will culminate in a showcase for local booking agents. The class is only $225 (or $200 if you get the tuition in before April 1st). Classes are held at the Edge Comedy Club at The Chicago Center for the Performing Arts, 777 N. If you haven't seen Eric perform you need to go see the man, because one day your going to see him on a VH1 documentary and you're going to say: "I saw that guy when he first started out, before the endless lines of chics at his hotel room door, excessive binge drinking, and his appearance on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
