Eric Jacobson Trio @ The Jazz Estate by Shepherd Express Staff .
August 23, 2007
A Wednesday night fixture at The Jazz Estate, Eric Jacobson—an area jazz musician caresses a clean, crisp sound from his trumpet, evoking the suave bebop of legends like Freddie Hubbard and Art Blakey, with hints of Latin jazz and the dignified funk of Donald Byrd. Jacobson is a versatile player, but he never strays too far from his very cool signature strut.

Eric Jacobson is a professional trumpet player, clinician, composer and private instructor residing in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Eric is one of the most prominent jazz trumpet players in the Milwaukee area. His approach to jazz is fresh and modern, yet stays within the jazz traditions of greats like Chet Baker and Freddie Hubbard. Eric has performed all over the country and in two major European jazz festivals (North Sea, Montreux). He has been fortunate to experience performances and lessons with jazz legends such as: Maynard Ferguson, Slide Hampton, Brian Lynch, Mark Witfield, Jim Rotondi, Tim Hagans, and Wynton Marsalis recently performed with the Tito Puente Jr. Orch.
Some of Eric's mentors include New York jazz trumpeter Brian Lynch, Chicago based jazz trumpeter Mike Plog, UW-Whitewater Trumpet Professor Dr. Frank Hansen and Madison based jazz trumpeter David Cooper.
In October 2001 Eric released his debut jazz CD entitled "Inspiration" which features some of Milwaukee's best jazz musicians as well as New York trumpet sensation Brian Lynch.
