    Eric Spitznagel's Interests
General Writing, reading, writing, listening to music, writing, being a curmudgeon, writing when I should be eating or sleeping, masturbating in public. Wait, wait, no, can I edit out that last part? Aw hell!
Music The Mountain Goats, Wilco, Mike Doughty, Neutral Milk Hotel, Tom Waits, Magnetic Fields, and anything that involves singing to, about or with Jesus.

Television The Simpsons. That's it. Unless, of course, the promised "Chief Wiggum, P.I." spin-off ever gets picked up.
BooksI like everything written by Vonnegut but especially "Breakfast Of Champions." Hornby's "High Fidelity." Egger's "Heartbreaking Work." Lethem's "Fortress of Solitude." Pretty much everything that David Sedaris ever put on the page, but particularly the story "Six to Eight Black Men," which, if it doesn't make you crap your pants with laughter, is definitive proof that you have no soul. Fusselman's "The Pharmacist's Mate." Richard Perez's "The Loser's Club." The entire McSweeney's canon, but especially number 11.

   Eric Spitznagel's Blurbs
About me:
I've written for dozens of magazines, most of them glossy and filled with pictures of celebrities with white teeth and flawless skin. My words have appeared in Playboy, Radar, Rolling Stone, Esquire, Maxim, Vanity Fair, Spy, Harper's, and Salon.com, among many others. I'm a contributing editor for The Believer Magazine, the website editor for Monkeybicycle, and the author of six books, one of which is available in German and features a cat on the cover for no apparent reason. Here are what my books look like:

.

The real books are much, much larger. And they include pages.

My latest book is called Fast Forward (Manic D Press, 2006). It's a memoir of my brief career as a screenwriter for the adult film industry. In addition to uncensored stories from the porn trenches, it also contains the script for my unproduced classic of erotica, "BUTT CRAZY!" You can visit my book on MySpace by going here.

Also, if you enjoy stories about threeways with Charlie Sheen (and who doesn't?), you may want to pick up Ron Jeremy's autobiography, "The Hardest (Working) Man In Show Biz" (HarperCollins, 2007). Why am I plugging it? Well, because I was the ghostwriter on the damn thing. Yes, my mother is not amused.

I also have a blog. It's called Vonnegut's Asshole, which is kinda ironic, as I rarely write about either Kurt Vonnegut or assholes.

I have more testicles than Hitler did, which I consider a moral victory.

Who I'd like to meet:
A singing hobo and a precocious monkey that fights crime, not necessarily in that order.

Good Morning!

I'm finished with A Demon Awaits , just waiting for cover art now.

In the meantime, I'm planning a winery tour to visit the winery where Sin and Vengeance takes place. So far I've gotten a grea response, so I hope it will be a great event.

Happy Monday,

CJ

I can't wait for October 15th!

Kind sir,

How does one kick start his or her career as a humorist?

Is there a cover charge of some sort?

Huge congrats on the VF interview!

You know that Simpsons episode where Lisa gives Ralph a valentine that says I CHOO-CHOO-CHOOSE YOU? Well, I TA-TA-TAG YOU. See my blog for details (if you're too busy or this is too chain-letterish, you don't have to play along).

Thanks, Eric, for adding me. Read Hormones and Celluloid. I remember your filming efforts and the black moustache of the villan in particular. I may even have a photo or two. Will check.
